Question about Bryant 463AAC005BA Air Conditioner

I keep getting water leaking out of my bryant heat pump (indoor unit) in the summer when the wheather is very hot and humid for a long time. I suspect there is too much ice buildup and it is dripping outside of the collection tray which is not blocked nor is the pump clogged. Any ideas???

If it is freezing up then it is for sure dripping outside the catch pan.. Have you been able to take the front cover off and see ice on the coil.... ?

Unfortunately this only happens a couple times a year and I don't catch it until there is water on the basement floor. Sometimes it will do it again but most of the time it will be hours or days later till it happens again. Last year when I saw it just start to drip I pulled the cover and it started to really frost up and drip everyewhere, but I assume that was due to the extra air comming in from the uncovered area. I can't remember if I saw actual ice.
I thought that it might be low on Puron and the ice not getting to the thermal sensor at the end of the coil ( I had this problem with my dehumidifier) so I just had the unit topped off with Puron in May. I'm not sure how this unit detects icing and starts a defrost cycle. Since this only happens during a really long hot

Will goodman outdoor ac work with bryant indoor unit

This is true as long as it is not a heat pump. Make sure they replace the piston (metering device to match the outdoor units required piston size. Or if the indoor coil is metered via TXV, it will automatically meter the refrigerant flow. If you are mismatching a system, make sure an acid test is performed on the old refrigerant and take appropriate measures with the new system if the test shows positive acid. They need to definitely install a liquid line drier.

My outside toshiba split system is leaking a lot of water

If the unit is on heat mode, the outside unit is the "cold" end... Sometimes if the ambient air temperature is very cold ( Under 5 degrees C), the outdoor unit can start to ice up. If it ices up too much, the air con will automatically go on to a defrost cycle where the outdoor unit will heat up and melt the ice. Water is then drained out the bottom.. its the opposite of what happens in the summer when the indoor unit has water running out of the drain hose. Especially on humid days..

Should I be getting a lot of water draining down the drain tube? I never used the unit until now and. It started pouring water out of it today. So I didn't know if that is normal for it to drain a lot of...

Yes, you get a lot of water from the condensate that accumulates on the air handler finns. My house unit during the summer generates a gallon in two hours during the hot summer months. The water run off is dependent on the humidity.

Hi We have just arrived back in Wellington from overseas. Our house has a gas central heating system - the unit is Brivis Buffalo 20. What we would like to know is how cost effective the Brivis Buffalo 20...

Hi, if you are planning to change this system out, please stay with a gas fired central system as compared to a heat pump, they are much more cost effective. Heat-pumps have so many problems as there are more parts on them to go wrong. The compressor and condenser fan motor run year around as with a heat-pump they use what is called a reversing valve that changes the flow of freon making the indoor coil the outdoor coil and the same with the outdoor coil becomes the indoor coil in the winter season. I can recommend excellent gas fired units compared to the Brivis unit you have that is much more cost effective, such as the Bryant, Carrier, Goodman. I would go with a Bryant and talk to a dealer. Stay away from a heat-pump no matter what they tell you as I have worked on them for many years and if you have gas available, stay with gas. You will heat your home much faster and save on electricity as this heat -pump units need heat strips for back up heat as they can't keep up the temperature with out them. I hope I have been of help to you on this, and you will be kind when rating me as I know you will. Please contact a Bryant dealer as you will not regret it.

Have a large new house with lots of vinyl clad wood double hung windows on a lake temp today this am is 0 F we have a HRV system house temp is 66 downstairs and 58 upstairs heating with a heat pump and...

Really not efficent to run a heat pump at those temperatures. Below freezing is not good for the compressor in the outside unit. The humidity in the house with the low temp. is causing the condensation on the windows to freeze. Kinda like an air conditoner does in the summer without the freezing humid air from the house goes over the cold a/c coil and the moisture condensates on the coil running down to drain pan. raising the temp. in the house and lowering the humidity should help. I would also recommend running the electric heat in low outside teperatures.

Same issue but how do I get the cover off the indoor unit?

do u have water draining on the outside wherever they ran the drain lines from each unit? if not , maybe they werent pitched correctly and are overflowing, those units have a tiny drain pan and must be pitched correctly on the install. Call a different contractor to check it out! And only during the summer because those units, as any AC does, remove a great deal of humidity, it isnt that humid in other seasons.

Condensation leaking out of unit

if it is the indoor unit leaking, make sure that all your drain lines are clear.... if you're talking about the outdoor unit leaking water in the heat cycle...that is normal.

Quits cooling on hot humid days

The evaporator coil is not getting cold enough to draw the humidity out. You may need to clean the indoor and outdoor coils thoroughly. If the unit still isn't cooling right, it is probably due to a refrigerant leak in the system. You will have to to have the unit looked at by a professional if there is a leak. Leaks can be very difficult to find and very costly. Most of the time, it is more cost effective to replace it if necessary.
