When the yellow light is flashing this indicates that an error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
You can open the BJ Monitor application to see what the error might be.
In the System Tray is an icon which you can click to open the BJ Monitor

Somewhere on this website should be my comments on your problem but I can't find them, so here's a repeat. Sounds like the print head is clogged. With power on, press the Online and Print Mode buttons simultaneously until the lights to the left of the Online button blink. Normally, this takes a few seconds. This is the recommended cleaning procedure for this printer head. If no success, repeat this a few times. If no success, replace your ink cartridge with a Canon BC-02 black ink cartridge (if not already using this) and use the above cleaning procedure before trying to print. If unsuccessful, try a printer repairman.
Hi, According to my BJ-30 & BJC-70 user manual, if F12 is blinking, it is required for this Error code to get in touch with a Canon Service Centre. I had this in the past and being curious I removed the printer chassis from case the and found the problem to be a loose ribbon cable in the connector on the main board from the touch pad circut board . I also had the identical problem with my BJC-70. These printers are very reliable and compact, it seems to be a problem which I think comes about from these printers being so portable. It took me about 15 minutes to fix the problem for which I have made a small modification to hold the cable in place. Having said this, it may not necessarly be your problem but it is a starting point. Canon to my mind have not made another portable printer this good, so if you value it and can find a trustworthy technician get it fixed. If you want further info contact me here.

The only way to solve the problem I see is to turn the flash into non-TTL one. It can be easy done by opening four screws at the connector side of the flash, unsoldering or cutting the BROWN line and closing the connector back. The AF assist led will work.
That I did on my 200E with Canon 400D camera and all works file.

On page 97 (105 of 183) it indicates your error message. Unfortunately, it does not give a way to resolve the issue other than bringing the device in for repair.
I then came across this page which is a bit more descriptive with the error codes.
F12 is aPrintHead Temperature Error. It suggests trying to install a NEW print head. if the problem continues, the printer will require service.
