Question about LG Heating & Cooling
Below are some troubleshooting tips for your mini split system:
If the unit will not start, check to see if the fuse or protector trip is blown. Also inspect the batteries in the remote controller and the electrical plug on the unit for proper connection.
If the unit is not cooling or heating, check the air filter and clean it if needed. The intakes and outlets might be blocked so look them over and make sure the temperature is properly set.
If there is a strange odor coming from the mini split it is most likely coming from another source inside the room that was sucked in the unit and blown out along with the air.
A water flowing sound is just the flow of refrigerant in the air conditioner, so there is no need to worry.
Temperature change can cause the unit to expand or contract creating a cracking sound, but it's not an operating issue.
If the indoor fan stops, this is usually due to the unit moving from the heating mode to cool air, so check it after a few minutes to make sure that is the case.

Hi, When your mini split air conditioner does not work, you should begin to troubleshoot it before you make repairs. But you may be at a loss for what to look for, so here is a quick guide to help you get started.
Check Power Source or Battery
This is likely an obvious step to make, but it can be one of the most overlooked as well. Not only checking it could save you money, it can also help keeping your air conditioner's life longer. Check for any wires sticking out or other damage like that. If it does have damage buy a new power supply.
Filters should be the next thing that you check. If it is not cooling or heating the rooms, the filter is almost always the reason why. If they appear to be in decent shape and have no mold, you can leave them in there. If they appear dirty, you can vacuum them to see if it can come off. If so, you can keep vacuuming them and wait until they appear to clean and pop them back in. If neither of the above is true, you should replace them.
You may want to check to see if your air vents are clean, as these can also cause you issues. Open up the vents and shine a flashlight in it. If it appears to be clogged, you will need to call a professional in to clean it for you. They will have the right equipment to perform the job and do it right the first time. You may want to have this done on a yearly basis for the best results.
Check The Unit
The last step is to check the unit as a whole. This would be the worst issue due to the cost. Your best bet would be to hire a contractor to take a look at it for you. They will be able to find the cause and make the repairs. But if they cannot, it will need to be replaced....

1. Start with the wall socket. Does it have power.
2. Does the power reach the AC? Any lights coming on?
3. If yes to 2 above, any sounds coming from the AC?
4. Does the motor run?
5. If NO to 3 & 4 above then the power on switch may be faulty. else the lead from the wall could be faulty too.
6. If the motor runs and there is no cooling then the compressor has gone or the gas has leaked out. You know what to do.
7. Most likely it is the power on switch.

The condensate drain line was not properly installed. Make them pull the wall unit and correct the problem.
Be persistant until you are satisfied they have the problem corrected. Do not pay any additional money. If they do not correct the problem then report them online to the state board of heating and air. Fill out their requested complaint form and follow thru with a second complaint if you do not get total satisfaction from the contractor that installed the unit.
Hope this helps.
