Question about Actiontec (GT701) Modem

I have DSL through Qwest and can connect to the internet, but the modem will drop internet connection then come back on then drop again. I will unplug the modem and restart it; it will connect then drop again. I can have internet connection for hours or a few minutes. It happens at all times of the day and for various lengths of time. Qwest says that their signal is good.

Check the configuration of the modem if you can. I do not know the exact model of the modem, could you post it? then with the exact model of the modem you could google it for a Manual, Handbook, or simply good configurations. If the configurations are good, then could be the firmware that is not updated, or in the last case ask Qwest to change your modem for one that works.
A piece of advice don't open it or modify it because you could void the warranty, in case of a change.

    I'm having the same type of problem. Firmware is up to date. I've downloaded the manual, it doesn't have any useful advice. The modem worked fine for several years (I've had it about five years) but has been giving me trouble for about 9 months now.

    The best advice Qwest could offer was that I needed to replace my phone filters to ensure that one of them wasn't causing the problem.

Got Qwest DSL internet and now PS3 can't connect to internet. "Access Point Was Not Detected" What do I do? Modem is Actiontec PK5000. Wireless internet works fine.


I found out that the ps3 is case senitive for the password so it there is caps in the password use caps..the qwest guy gave me a password like fff3093fhfhjh3r and I had to use FFF3093FHFH blah blah

Qwest DSL / Issues with Motorola 3347


The modem overheats due to lack of ventilation. I fixed mine first with Ice packs then a small twelve volt fan and some inexpensive heat sinks glued to the top of the two processor chips.

You need to cool the modem down!

Ip problem


It is common to have this as the default IP to connect to equipment.

I suggest you unplug your modem while you set up your router. You can also change the default IP for the router while in the settings. be sure to remember the new IP or you will have to do a factory reset to get it back to default

We recently got high speed internet from Qwest. It will not work. It keeps saying that the can't "ping" it. All light are green; power DSL, and the Ethernet. The internet is not. I have...


The DSL router/modem will receive an address from your ISP (Qwest) and will assign an address to the connected PC.

There should be a cable that goes from your DSL modem to your PC. It'll either be a USB cable (flat rectangular plug on the PC end), or a RJ45 (looks like a wider telephone plug).

If there is neither connection between the DSL modem and your PC, then the PC can't "talk" to the DSL modem, so it's not getting an address from the DSL modem.

I think your modem needs to be configure by your ISP.
I change my modem here in my house with other brand and did'nt work, so i put the original modem i used and it works again..
