Over heating problems with HP laptops

before you think your fan has gone bad or the mother board has gone bad stop. About 50% of my fixes are due to a clogged fan or dirty. Take the time and blow it real good. You can do it while it is still put together or if you are comfortable you can take it apart and clean it out real good. Once you do that run it for a while and see if stays powered or over heats. If you have updated your bios it will change your fan speeds and could get hotter than normal. You can think Intel for that one they changed there requirements.

Asus U50f overheating

I would start with a can of compressed air to clean out the intake and outlet vents on your laptop. If that doesn't work, I would look for a pro to take your laptop apart and check the fan assembly...or if you are feeling really can try it yourself.

Hi, Wife has an Advent 4211 Netbook / Laptop with a noisey Fan. Wondering how easy to remove cover and clean / replace fan. Cheers Dave.

Hi, before removing and replacing, have you tried to clean it with an air can, if the fan works most of the time this helps and you will not need to take anything apart, just pick up one at your local electronic store, follow the instruction on the can and spray the air ways starting with the openning under your fan, start SLOW and gradually increase the air flow and be careful not to let the air pressure break the fan fins by sudden changes in the air flow... Hope that Helps

EMachine e627 screen blank

I am assuming you have plugged the screen into a known working power source. You have pressed the 'on' button to turn the screen on and you have hooked up the screen to the back of the computer. What I need to know is if when you power up the computer if you see any text at all from the post AND if you see any lights on the front of the screen itself. (most all screens have lights on the front of them to tell you they are turned on, and most of the time the light is green). If the screen is on but is getting an orange or amber light that means something. Also if you see text or something on the screen initially but not in windows then it could be a resolution or driver issue.

Compaq Presario 2200 laptop can't get apart. Fan stopped working and heats up and shuts off. Problem is I want to replace the fan BUT I can't get the d... thing apart. I took all of the screws...

I think you are correct ... there is a screw in the middle of the d... thing. I found that issue myself on this make as well as others. Look closely - maybe under the labels.

Rub your finger over the entire label surface to find the hole. When you find it, poke your screw driver through and remove the screw.

good luck

My laptop fan constantly runs help!

First, I recommend cleaning all the dust out of the cooling vents. Use an old toothbrush to brush the dust away from the vent holes and blow air through the vents using one of those compressed air cans made for cleaning keyboards. One time I worked on a Sony laptop that I had to take apart to get all the dust cleaned out of the air vent.

The second thing I recommend is to download a piece of free software called FanSpeed. Here's a link
I'll let you read the description for yourself, but in short it allows you to monitor the temperature inside your computer and to adjust how the fans react to this temperature.

On these models, they have a primary and secondary cooling system. The left fan is the secondary, and will only turn on if the machine reaches a certain preset temperature. I really don't think that it's something to get concerned with, but if you are concerned, you can take the fan out, clean and inspect it, and make sure the connection is seated properly. If you do take it out, check to make sure that there isn't a hair wound in it. I've had many machines come through my shop that a hair had stopped the fan.

Fan making noise help

Start by taking the machine apart, cleaning the fan, and checking the connection. The failure may be due to debris buildup or a loose connection, and I've also seen fans stop working because a hair has gotten wound in them. If it still doesn't work properly after cleaning, then it will need to be replaced. Here's a link that has breakdown diagrams and instructions, this should help.
