Question about HP Pavilion F1503 15" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

Hpf1503 switches Good Morning, sorry to bother you, I've seen where you have recommended replacing the switches, but no information on where to get the switches. I have a monitor that someone threw away, and I can see why now, the blue window that floats around and tells you the resolution is set wrong, and then the warning that iot is going into power save mode are quite annoying. Otherwise the monitor works beautifully. I am working on it now, patiently waiting for the little blue screen to move out of my way so I can type. So, where can I buy those switches, and are that a module or separate units? Thanks!

Hello Patrick!
If you are technically able you can open the monitor and remove the key pcb( switch off remove power cable).Use a switch cleaning solution like wd40 to clean each switch (spray and operate a no. of times).This might solve your problem.Regarding where you can get it,Sorry I am in India and don't know where you might get it in your part of the world.
Please rate this solution and post your feedback.

Have you tried changing the input on the monitor? I've seen many times where people go all through the troubleshooting steps on monitors but forget to check that. Look for a button on the monitor that says "Input" and/or go through the menu and find the input section and make sure to check all of them, just in case.

Hi there!

It is a possible problem with your monitor. Since this is a brand new LCD, I assume that it has manufacturer's warranty. I suggest you bring it to the store where you purchased it so that they can replace it.

Hope this helps

It has nothing to do with any software. This seems to be an hardware issue. Most probably it is the heating up problem. When you switch it off and connect it back after few hours, it cools down and works again. So, it is recommended to seek professional help for internal repairs of the monitor.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Most likely your power supply has failed as this is the most commonest problem.
The cost of replacement may be more than a new comparable unit, you will have to check.
This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an Medion, Siemens, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand

When computer is on screen will flash then go off

rosetatai, You failed to tell me any HISTORY of your unit. I can only tell you that unit has possible bad "switch-mode-power-supply" and need to be repaired. Read more of my FIXYA profile and that of other tech's to see if your complaint closely matches up to their's. Then do a repost to original with more info on your unit as to age and "on" hours it has seen. Is your pc working fine with a substitute KNOWN GOOD mopnitor attached? 12fixlouie

VX922 monitor, blank screen, blinking power light

If there is a flashing led on front of the monitor, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1 The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr suddenly are a blown capacitor on power board, the inverter board powering up backlight lamp has blown, or a fault on main lcd controller board.
check also the video cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Check connectors, try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact Viewsonic to find out a Viewsonic service point.

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

On switch doesn't always work!

Assuming no other fault other than the switch itself, it would require that the unit be opened and the switched exposed. Underneath the button would be the actual switch. it is possible that:
  • cold solder - would require re-application of heat through a soldering iron;
  • dirty contacts - initially try electronic contact cleaner or if still a no go, then replacement;
Often the repair is rather quick and easy, what might be more demanding would be opening the case/paneling to expose the switch. Should you be uncomfortable going through this route, then perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional. In considering a DIY (do-it-yourself), familiarity with electronic components and circuitry is a necessity.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
