How can i clean the screen

Every kind of TV has different steps for proper cleaning. If you are unsure what kind of TV you own, consult your TV user\'s manual to ensure that you are using the right cleaning method.
  • Direct-View - Older direct view TV\'s can be cleaned with glass cleaner and a paper towel. Newer tubes that may contain any special coatings, like an anti-glare coating, should be cleaned with a damp cotton cloth. If you are unsure if you have any special coatings, it is best to be safe and use the damp cloth.

  • CRT Rear-Projection - Before you can begin cleaning, you need to determine if you do, or do not have a screen shield. A screen shield is a hard plastic cover over the front of the TV screen. If you can\'t tell, give the front of the TV a light tap. Another way to tell is to check for ridges in the screen area. If you can feel ridges on the screen, then you do not have a screen shield. Rear projection TVs without a screen shield require a special kind of cleaner and rag. These are available for purchase at your local TV service center. Those that do have a screen shield should be cleaned with a dry or damp soft cloth. If it\'s extremely dirty, a mild soap may be used. Do not use paper products, such as paper towels, to clean the screen shield. Paper products GA_googleFillSlot("TL-IMU-Article"); can easily scratch the surface of the shield. Screen shields can have a tendency to streak while cleaning. If this happens, use a dry cloth and buff the screen in a small circular motions. There seems to be dust behind the screen panel i live on a gravel road is there a way to clean the screen or what do i do

What you have to do is remove the front screen assembly by removing the screws loacted at the bottom of the screen frame just under the frame lip. Lift the screen assembly up from the bottom to disengage the holder clips at the top and set the screen assembly to the side. On the inside of the screen, the part that faces the projection mirror assembly you can use some Windex and paper towels to clean the surface. On the outside do not use Windex as this will breakdown the protective finish used on the viewing side of the screen. To clean the viewing side, use a special cleaner also used to clean computer display screens. Re-install the screen assembly and you are done.

Thanks.

Water Damage to View Finder

Hello,
Try cleaning the viewfinder with a damp (again?) soft cloth. You can use a product recommended for cleaning camera lenses. You can still use the screen to view the scene you want to shoot. (I am assuming that what you call the viewfinder is the small eye that used to equip all cameras, before it was replaced by the view screen.)

Hope it helps.

Viewfinder Obstruction

If the dust/dirt is visible in the finder, it is in one of three locations: - if very sharp, it is on the "grind" side of the viewing screen, which, unfortunately for cleaning ease [unless the screen is user-removeable], is often the upper side of the screen in newer cameras. - if fairly sharp, it is on the non-"grind" side of the screen, and it may be possible to remove it with a VERY soft (very clean!) small brush or a VERY gentle blowing with a hand syringe-type blower (blowing hard into a VF area just about guarantees that dust will be blown in). - if very soft-looking, it is on the underside surface of the pentaprism (being able to clean the VF area without a repair is an excellent arguement for having the interchangeable-screen feature...). Prevention is the best way - never leave the body cavity uncovered (except briefly, when changing lenses); never change lenses in a windy area; keep the rear area of the lens clean; get in the habit of facing the open camera downward while changing lenses; NEVER blow into the body cavity (unless you know what you are doing, the mirror is up, or the screen is removeable). Hope This Helps
