SOURCE: engine bogs big puffs of white smoke from front

the engine will bog because the cutting blades are either cutting to much grass or the blades are touching the ground making it hard to keep rpm's then it will smoke a bit

SOURCE: mower started fine and ran good for 5 min. before

First make sure you're not leaving your gas lever on 'choke' after starting your mower....especially if its a fairly new mower.

If its an older mower you may have a valve thats sticking and allowing too strong of a gas mixture.

If its the latter and you fancy yourself a handyman and want to tear into it...check on-line. Their are a number of web-sites that may be able to help you with your problem...such as this one:

Hope that helps you.

SOURCE: mower made huge cloud of white smoek and shut off

Check for spark at the plug.
If the engine has points and condenser . check to see if the points are good.
If electronic ignition, then it is likely the ignition module is the cause

SOURCE: Started briggs 15.5 hp engine. Ran for 5 minutes

make sure you have the correct amount of oil in it and that its not overfull. after that replace the points and condenser underneath the flywheel that is underneath the shround on the top of the motor. make sure the points are gauged right. you can buy a manual for biggs and straton that will tell u what to gauge the points at. you will need "feeler gauges" to re-gauge the points. they are a little set of gauges that are really thin pieces of spring metal.

Hayter harrier lawn mower why slow going up a slight incline but runs away going down

Indicates lack of power, but that is normal to a degree. Are you saying it's worsened? Start by cleaning thoroughly then drain all fuel and put freshly bought fuel in. Then you can start to fault find if it's still bad.

Honda eu3000is does not operate without choke

It sounds like your fuel mixture is too lean, closing choke is richening the mixture, by closing off air

How to start the generator

Hi Joe, I had asked for a little clarification and have not received any information. I will answer this question based on the generator is in good working order and it is a recoil start. Open the petcock, (this is the fuel valve) and give it about a minute to fill the fuel bowl on the carburetor. If your generator has an engine an on/off kill switch, set to on. If the generator has an auto idle switch set it to off. If the engine has a throttle lever located under the carburetor, push it all the way down (full throttle). Pull the choke knob out completely, there is a detent on the choke for half choke, pull it past this for full choke. pull the recoil starter rapidly. As soon as the engine starts running push the choke knob to half choke, this will allow the engine to run smooth while it's warming up. Depending on the climate that you are in, warm up time will vary. After a minute or two in cold climates start pushing the choke knob in, if it starts to run poorly pull it back out too the half position and let it warm up some more. When you can posh the choke in without the engine faltering it is ready to go. In warmer climates you might be able to start the engine without the choke or in the halfway position. Robin Subaru makes some of the finest small engines available. I would choose a Robin over a Honda every time. I hope this gets your generator going, and once again this is based on the generator being in good working order. Good luck, Michael Burke.

Starting my petrol mower

depending on age of machine set the throttle to maximum revs, and pull the starter cord but newer models have a primer button located on carburettor which is locked just under air filter (black or red colour) push it three times( you should hear it inject fuel) and then pull starter cord, some of these engines have a pre-set throttle ,main concern is that if it has not been used for some time you will need to clean carburettor out, replace diaphragm and remember to use fresh fuel(not older than 90 days) this should cure your problem
