Hello,

the microphone is "On" all the time, it doesn't "turn off" it simply is not being recorded or played back by the computer. you just need to change the settings in the program you wish to use the microphone with to get the sound.

You need to be specific with your problem so that I can actually help you. What program? what are you trying to accomplish? etc..

Im doing some audio recording on my lexicon omega soundcard and i recently bought a microphone sennheiser e835s and i was wondering if this microphone can operate using phantom power?

Phantom Power (or an internal battery) is needed to operate 'Condenser' type microphones.
The E835S from Sennheiser is a 'dynamic' microphone and, as such, does not require any power source for it to operate.
If you are using several different types of microphone together (dynamic and condenser) it should be quite safe to have phantom power on - it won't cause any damage to the Sennheiser.
However 'ribbon' microphones will be destroyed by phantom power

Check all the pins on the VGA cable, also try it on another PC to make sure it is not the PC that is causing the problem. Hopefully it will not be bad lamps.
