Question about Westinghouse Electric Ceiling Fan 3-way Light Switch By Westinghouse 77052

1 Answer

In replacing a faulty, pull-chain, 3-way fan (Hunter ceiling fan) light switch I unfortunately misjudged my memory and am not sure which of two connecting, wire-splice nuts the red wire from the new 77052 should connect to. One splice nut connects a bundle of 5 white wires which I believe are the neutrals to each of the 4 lights attached to the bottom of the Hunter Ceiling Fan. The other splice nut connects a bundle of 3 black wires, I believe the red wire from the replaced switch connected to the bundle of 3 black wires. I am not a 100% sure of this, however, as I did this small job over two days and didn't sketch out the wiring as I figured it was a no brainer. Now when I pull the switch chain, only the bottom light comes on. Which splice nut should the red wire be connected to: white bundle or black bundle? Do you have a link of the wiring schematic for this? Thank you! Tom from Yuma

Bad hunter ceiling fan light pull switch

I don't know what you mean, longer stem/chain housing to hold light fixture. You should be replacing a two wire switch only.

Hunter ceiling fan light will not turn off when I pull the chain. No remote. I replaced the switch, thinking that was the problem, and still the light won't turn off. I have to keep the lights on if I want...

Make sure it's wired correctly to the fan.The light should turn off when you pull the chain weather you have a remote or not. Also the model of the fan should be 5 digits starting with a 2.

My control won't activate the light on my Hunter fan. The light comes on via pull chain fine, and the control works the 3 speeds on the fan, but the light won't respond.

Check the wiring on your receiver to make sure the light wire is connected. You have to have the light on with the pull chain and then use the remote to turn it on/off.

Ceiling fan pull chain connected but does not click on

There is a pull chain switch inside the fan termination housing. you will have to take the little cover off and remove the switch. it has 2 small screws with wire landed under them. Turn off the power at the breaker before working on the switch. take this little ****** out and put in a new one. you can get them at the Home Depot or equivelant. it don't matter if the new switch is a little bigger but it still has to fit. use some judgement here. wire it in the place of the old one, turn the power back on at the breaker and it should be ready to go. Presto.

Hunter ceiling fan-just installed -possible speed control problem

Sounds like the fan is defective. All internal wiring from the switch to the motor is factory installed. The fan has power going to it. Just to make sure, double check the wiring from the ceiling fixture to the fan.
Problem could be a faulty switch on the fan or faulty motor(bad winding for med. speed). Try reverse switch on the fan to operate the opposite direction and see if medium speed works. If medium does work in opposite direction, it pretty much points to a defective fan. In any case, unless you discover that the ceiling wires were reversed going into the fan, I'd say new fan to the returns dept.

Sounds like the remote receiver units (located where the mains connect to the fans) took a surge and have failed.
