How can I get my printer to print in color rather than brown? more info

Hi Harold
I have a feeling that this is a problem that you will only be able to resolve by changing the colour cartridge for a new one and then doing multiple head cleaning operations.
It sounds as if the three tanks in the colour cartridge have become severely contaminated with ink from the others, thus giving this overall brown colour on the page, whichever colour the computer tells the printer to print.
To check this you may be able to use something like a Word document and using the font properties, change the colour of the font on the screen for a number of different lines (eg one line - bright yellow, another - bright red, a third - bright blue, a fourth - black) print this out and see what colours you get.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

TI-83 have adjusted the brightness but can't type or see flashing indicator

If the screen is not busted, adjust the contrast without going all the way to totally dark or to totally blank. Calculators do occasionally become unusable (old age, mishandling).

I don't seem to have an option to change the colour on screen for my pro nav 300. It's sometimes hard to see in bright sunshine. Can you help please.

Lets see if we can help you. Lets take the bright sunshine issue first. You can adjust the backlighting on the device which may help that situation. To do this:
1) Click on the system icon. Then select the BACKLIGHT button. Now with the backlight menu up, tap the right side of the brightness bar (the top one) until the indicator is all the way to the right (bright sun). That should help some.
For the changing the colour issue, not sure if you mean night color options or color options themselves. For night color options, tap anywhere in the top 1/3 of the screen to bring up an options menu. Then select NIGHT COLOURS to change to softer night colours when driving at night.
To change the colour scheme during the day, according to the manual, when you turn the device on, it shows the setup screen. From within the 'Full Navigator' menu, select SETUP. From within this menu, should find an option for Colour schemes. Select this to choose the colour scheme that you'd like.
These devices always have many menus and aren't too easy to navigate. Hopefully these instructions will help you find what you're looking for. The entire manual for the device can also be found at:

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

My screen will not work

Mine had a problem like that, just that the screen had become blue. I later found out that someone had gone to the contrast mode and made my screen that way. I am sure we have the same problem, but you can try and see. Wish you luck.

Tomtom 300

hello Simon,

Yes your'e right, the screen does have a bulb. Its reffered to as the ' backlight ' and from what you describe unfortunatly is sounds like yours has gone.
This light is somewhat integral to the screen so its more reasonable to change the whole screen rather than just the light.
There are other possible causes for the light not to be on as special circuits are employed to light up the screen. If these circuits are damaged in your device then its unlikely it will be economical to repair them.
I do hope this helps you or at least helps you to decide how to procede.
Good luck
