Question about SYMA Toys industrial SYMA S009 Micro Indoor Helicopter

1 Answer

After flying for 2 weeks, it finally stops getting off the ground. I have checked through all its component, e.g. its blades, shafts, motors, etc all seems to work fine and the blades are rotating normally but I just couldn't get it off the ground. Why's that? any remedy?

Let me know if you ever get an solution for this. I bought one for my son and the same thing is happening. We're able to get it about a foot off the ground but that's it.

23hr. kohler starter shaft runs clock wise. should run counter clockwise

Check the battery connections. Engine will not run backwards.

Most of the components are electrical and will operate on reverse voltage. The battery charger off of the fly wheel would not like the battery to be reversed.

Mower always have a negitive ground. Only older John Deere tractors have a positive ground.

Hope this helps?

Exhaust fan is hitting something while running

The fan blade shifted (moved) on the motor shaft. Take it apart (usually from the rear) and move the fan blade a 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch to clear the housing. Don't add oil to the shaft otherwise it will move again.

I recently got a DH-1 AeroQuest Mini Helicopter. It was working fine until I crashed it against the wall. So now the top Propeller spins but the bottom propeller does not and the helicopter just spins...

I had the same problem. Bottom blade would not spin. There are 2 shafts that spin 2 gears. The outer shaft that spins the bottom blade has 2 set screws and my set screws got sheered off. I replaced both set screws and everything works now....

After 3 weeks of perfect flight behavior, my S107 started rocking or pitching back and forth after a crash. The next time I flew it, it was worse, doing a circular "going down the drain" motion....

Sometimes "toilet bowl effect" or TBE can be caused by a crash.
Try this: Gently, but firmly, press (or pull?) the drive shaft down towards the body, where it comes out of the 'copter, and where it comes out of the bottom rotor and attaches to the top rotor. Also, check for any thing wrapped around the shaft. Even a single long hair or thin thread can wrap dozens of times around the shaft and impede its functionality. Balance bar blade strikes are fairly normal in crashes or out of control flying (i.e. heavy throttle trying to pull out of a drop) and not to be very concerned with, they will decrease as you become an even better pilot.
You say "now, after liftoff it just banks sharply and crashes" does it spin? Or maintain heading and just bank? TBE will often get worse, but can usually be fixed.

Charging/Battery care?
Fly. As soon as you can't keep altitude, land and turn helicopter power off. Do not drain battery fully, ever. Cool for 10 mins. Charge until light on USB charger doesn't get brighter when you unplug heli. Cool for 10 mins again. Rinse and repeat.

Please let me know if none of these solves your issue, and I'll consult my repair notes and pick a few brains, we'll figure this one out for ya!

I have a Syma s032 that had its motors brushes distroyed in few flights. How to avoid premature wear? Is there another kind of motor that can be used on it? Thanks

You need to quickly throttle (left joystick) all the way down whenever you're about to crash or blade strike. Both motors have clutch to spin freely when in neutral. They will bounce off of anything if they can, i.e. if your hand isn't still pegging the throttle. But, if the blade (or blades) hit something that stops them while throttle is still being applied, one of three things will happen.
1) Blade will stop abruptly, putting grossly abnormal strain on the motor and those tiny little brushes inside. Motor may burn out. Every fraction of a second that throttle is being applied while blades cannot move, irreparable damage is almost certainly being done to the motor(s).
2) Blade(s) will break, maybe taking gears or shaft along for the ride.
3) or sometimes nothing seems to have happened, bird clunks to ground, you right it and continue flying.

however, if you throttle fully down, the motors engage clutches automatically and are effectively in neutral, spinning freely allowing the blades to bounce harmlessly off of whatever.

Throttle down when accident nears, and your motors will last for ages.

Hope this helps,

I experienced the same problem last week with my freezer. Apparently the change in temperature during defrosting allows the blade locking mechanism to slide on the motor shaft during the spinning operation. The blade pulls itself along the shaft until it comes in contact with the motor mounting bolt. If your freezer just stops getting super cold, but remains cool and you don't hear the fan spinning, remove the inside back panel and check the fan blades for freedom of movement. I almost disposed of the freezer this past week but decided to make one last check of the mechanisms.

The blade has come loose

Had the same problem myself - another example of a product made to break!
Red Caboose has it spot on. Just a couple of points. The thread on the motor shaft is a 4mm machine screw. the shaft thickens a little bit below the thread (very short) forming a slight collar. I put a washer (slightly larger that the width of the blade) onto this, followed by the blade. You''ll then need a washer to sit into the blade to centre it on the shaft. Follow this with a cup washer (as Red Caboose) suggests or a locknut. Working perfectly now!
