I have a year old sony vaio vpcee31x screen goes white on boot up and while on then later returns to normal. did a restore it worked ok for 1 month them started again. its only the screen that goes blank...

The problem is in the LCD display intermittent, or a possible loose video cable from the screen to the motherboard. But first, hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if okay! it is one of the problems outlined above. If symptoms are the same, the Video Graphics Card is bad usually built into the motherboard.

Dell Inspiron8600 display is blank. It begins booting, the screen flashes with the Dell logo then it goes blank. I can see faint images on screen but can't read anything. Can I hook up to an external...

If you get the boot image on your screen then you screen is working correctly unless there's something that you not explaining. You can try an ext. monitor if you think it is something related to your LCD screen not woring during boot up. If the ext monitor not showing your laptop to boot then you have problem with your OS and may need to get it repaired or restored.

My srceen goes Blank

Hi,

first try booting the laptop and pressing the Fn key with the numerical ( numbered key ) that has a picture of 2 screens on it. This is for booting to an external monitor. you could also try adding an external ( pc monitor ) this will eliminate any motherboard Faults.

Secondly, the graphics chip driver may be corrupt or not installed correctly. if you have a restore cd, you could try booting the laptop, with the cd in the drive.

you can then try, to see if the settings in the bios are all correct, by booting/starting the laptop and pressing esc or F2 or delete immediately as the laptop starts. ** Be-Careful** what you adjust.
My suggestion is to look for. ** default settings tab** or load setup defaults.

these are the obvious things to try, before assuming that you have a faulty graphics chip or motherboard fault.

Fujitsu c series labtop screen goes blank, the hooked up to a monitor, starts to work then says out of frequence and goes blank

The video resolution and/or frequency that's set in windows is not supported by the monitor you have plugged in. Restart the PC in VGA mode (hit F8 after the BIOS messages but before any Windows messages) and change the video settings to something basic, such as 800 x 600 @ 60 Hz. Then restart the machine normally.

Repair installation

Sorry to cover the basics but you cant be too careful. have you set your bios to boot from cd? Also when the cd tries to load you should have to tap any key to go into it. If all these thing are covered you have two more likely faults. 1. Faulty Ram. 2.Faulty drive
