Hi,

I love this error as it has created a Havoc. Search and you would find hundreds of unsatisfied customer's.

This is a repair error code. Card is fine. This is a common problem in this model. Unfortunately, no lawsuit. Anyway, back to the problem, there are few things you could try to fix this issue. ( these are all hit and trial. These might fix the camera for a certain time ).

1. Pressing the reset switch at the bottom of the camera body.

2. Take the CF card and again insert it.

3. Make sure all the pins in the slot is fine. I have seen some times,if the pins are bent, you are bound to get this error.

Most of the times, it is a problem with main circuit board.

Good Luck!!

Thanks!!

Try the carrd on your PC card reader for any issues, if not format and reinsert once again. If the same error comes in then it is possible that the contacts to the memory card is faulty, worn out or damaged. Have you by any chance tried to put in any other cards or reversed .If so the contacts may be moved.
You will need to check into the card reader slot toconfirm or replace this card slot.
I suggest that you call and confirm or visit the nearest Nikon service centre to take help than to let the camera be tampered.
Get estimate and decide.
Good day

It's a lost cause. The A540 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Memory card error

Make sure you're using SD cards. If the cards are larger than 2GB then they're actually SDHC cards. While they fit in the slot they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I keep getting a Card Access Error message on my Sharp VE-CG40U, what could be causing this?

Actually, you didn't. You put in a new 4GB SDHC card. The camcorder works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Brand new camera keep getting message "card error" can you tell me why i keep getting this message

Two possible reasons: 1. The card needs to be formatted in the camera to work. 2. The card may be to large a capacity for this model camera. For example, if the camera can use up to a 2GB card and you try to use an SDHC 8GB card, you will get "card error" so check your manual.

This is an old posting but I'd like to comment that once the memory card is used in a computer it won't read in the camera again until you format the memory card. Make sure you have all your pictures on the computer before formatting the memory card. A memory card must be formatted in the camera it is going to be used in.

Getting the following message, "Card not

Try "Formatting" the card again and see if it doesn't work. You should be able to do this in the camera through the Menu choices. If it still doesn't work, then something went bad with the card and it will have to be replaced. Moisture and just a small electrical shock such as from your own static electricity while holding a card can possibly cause this to happen.

You probably just need to format the card in the camera to get it to work. This will erase the card so download any pics first using a card reader if necessary.
