Same exact conditions - washer gets stuck in wash cycle (after 25 minutes, I aborted the cycle and sent it through a rinse cycle. Water appears to heat, cut "heat" indicator remains lighted indicating "heating". TUBE MANIFOLD part # 3379644 for model # 665.15835790 has deteriorated with holes in bottom of manifold causing supply water leakage to lower rack area. Dishwasher is 10 years old.

Kenmore dishwasher stuck in wash cycle. Won't move on to next cycles.

  • Anonymous Jul 28, 2008

I just had my kitchen remodeled and never had a problem with the D/W until they put it back and reconnected it. First, the clean light was flashing and I did the sequencal thing that everybody posted and it seemed to work. So, I tried running the dishwasher today and it seemed to be stuck in the wash cycle. I too after a long time, aborted the cycle and drained it. It's only about 3 yrs old so I'm wondering if moving it and reconnecting it has something to do with the malfunction of it? I hate to waste money on a service call if it is something simple.

SOURCE: Stays in wash cycle Whirlpool Dishwasher Du1050SS

my repairman contacted whirlpool about my washing machine staying on
wash.. to his surprise.. and mine.. and his co=workers.. this is the answer,
it worked.. and we have never heard this before.

In your original istallation booklet it tells you to let the dishwasher run til its complete
the first time you use it as it may rinse twice... my original installation man told me this also.

however.. if you suffer a "blip" in your electricity.. it could put the little dishwasher "brain"
out of whack.. it can run as long as 3 to 4 hours on wash to reset itself.. if you stop it
(like others have mentioned.. and which I did also).. it doesn't complete the reset and it
will attempt to do it the next time..

answer?.. just let it go once as unnerving as this is.. it works.. They did mention that
if it went to 5 hours.. call your repairman because you need a new mechanism.

One possibility is that the screen/filter to the wash units have become totally clogged. (I had this problem because of some particularly dirty water in the dishwasher.) To access the screen requires taking out the cover at the base of the dishwasher arm assemble which can be done without removing the machine, although you'll need a special screw spline screw driver. Given this the repair takes jsut five or ten minutes. Remove the screen clean it out in the sink and replace.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher - top rack arm not spinning

Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.

I wish all appliance fixes were this easy...!

SOURCE: Kenmore Ultrawash Quiet Guard 5 making buzzing/grinding noise

I have a very similar dishwasher, with a very similar problem. I fixed it by removing debris from the water evacuator pump located towards the front of the bottom of the machine (the last motor before the drain hose. In my case, grape stems had clogged it up. Once emptied, it purrs once again. NOTE: don't disassemble the motor, just flush it out, there is an o-ring gasket that is a bear to re-install.

Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher gets stuck at 42 on the control panel

Be aware that all (well, almost all) dishwashers have a "thermal hold" period in their cycles. This is the point in the main wash cycle where the heater is turned on to heat the water to the optimum wash temperature (about 150 to 160 deg F), and during this time, the timer will stop advancing. Once the water has reached the desired temperature, the cycle will continue. IF it does not, then you have a water heating problem. This could be caused by a bad heating element, a bad controller, a bad thermostat or temperature sensor.

Water does not enter dishwasher during wash cycle

Make sure the under-sink valve is turned on. Then suspect the water solenoid valve under the front may have an open coil or stuck shut valve.

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

Heating element may have burned out. Check water temp during wash--should read between 130 to 140 F.
If not the heating element, you may have to replace pump-motor assembly or wash impeller.
Hope this helps.

Cycle stops, won't drain

This is either a bad timer or a bad heat sensor. On most cycles that call for the water to be heated it will pause the timer and continue washing/heating until the sensor is satisfied the water is hot enough. Try selecting a quick, delicate, or china cycle without heated rinse or dry. If it works this way the timer is fine but the sensor is bad. Sometimes cold water to the machine will cause this problem because the machine is not capable of totallly heating cold water. It is only designed to boost the temp. Make sure you run hot water at the sink before you start the machine.

Wash cycle

momrules, it could vary depending on the water entering the dishwasher. On a heavy cycle normal time is about 85 minutes not including thermal holds ( pauses that heat the water). On a normal wash, 68 to 75 minutes not including thermal holds. If the water entering the dishwasher is not at least 120 to 140 degrees the dishwasher will pause in cycles to heat the water before advancing. So 120 minutes is not unrealistic. The heaters in the dishwasher are low wattage and will only heat the water approx. 2 degrees every 5 minutes. Catriver.
