check that some bugger hasn"t turned your taps off or gas bottle -otherwise call a camper trailer dealer and ask the the best advice on what to do -might just be a blocked gas jet -but you will need a licensed gas fitter to check it for you -wont cost too much

I purchased a generac 22 kw 3 phase 120/240 volt generator. I was surprised to find that it had a wild leg. Can i change the leads on the stator output to eliminate the high leg and get straight 120/208...

This unit is wired 120-240V 3 phase Delta. if you are using on it 120/208V 3 phase application it will need to be re-tapped. If you are using it in a home 120-240V single phase it will need re-tapping, Do NOT just use 2 legs, as this will cause rotor imbalance and wear out the rotor bearings, and odd ball currents to flow. If there are 12 leads coming off the stator it can be reconnected. If not you are stuck with it, except by using a transformer

Hi, is there any way these can be converted to 230-240 volts as i have the 110-120 volts unit, it does have a 240 volt plug but its a weird looking 4 pin type, cheers, Rob.

I don't understand. It if has a 240 volt plug, then it has 240 volts, and all you need is the right plug. You can easily make an adapter cord that had the "weird" plug on one end, and the type of plug you want, on the other. All 4 pin plugs are 240. Two are power out of phase with each other (black and red), one is neutral (white), and the other is external ground (green). Actually 240 volt does not need the neutral (white), but it allows for more flexible use of the plug.

I'm dumb. Can I hook an inverater to my generator and produce more enegry than my generator produces???

Please understand that the generator produces power from fuel with an engine wheras the invertor is one which genrerates power from a stored battery using the principle of frequency switching a DC source to induct and produce AC.
Now you can have an uninterupted power supply setting with the invertor backed up by the generator so that when the battery voltage goes down you can start and charge the invertor and also supply the extra energy .
the ratings of both must also be considered.

chances are the power inverter has gone,(it takes 12 volts upto 240)
easy to check, use a lightbulb and the two wires to check power output.BE CAREFULL NOT TO TOUCH THE WIRES.

I know this is a vague question. (trying to help out hubby) I am currently at work, however, our norcold elect/gas fridge/freezer in our mallard camper stopped working properly. the lp gas light is lit,...

Don't be despirate.

You need a little more knowledge ... I'm here to give it.

Your RV refrigerator requires 12 volts to operate; on gas or on electric ... it needs 12 volts - period.

Now then, your frig will get 12 volts from your 'power converter' AND/OR your battery. You do have a battery in your unit, correct? If not - why not? Get one. (Your power converter cannot provide all the 12 volts you potentially require in all circumstances. It is there to charge the battery, which CAN supply all the 12 volts you require. The converter can probably put out 15 amps - your battery can put out 100 amps or more (@ 12 volts DC). Relying only on the converter for your 12 volts will cause over heating and will eventually destroy the converter. Batteries are about $100.00 - converters are about $300.00.

As you know, your frig will run on gas if you are plugged in or on generator ... that allows your frig to get the 12 volts required to run the controls.

What about electric operation? If you are plugged in or on generator, you can run on electric because your Norcold has 12 volts from the converter and/or battery.

Whats going on? Your absorbtion type refrigerator requires a heat source to boil the ammonia mixture to create "heat removing" (you can't really cool anything ... only remove the heat from it!) You can heat the ammonia with a flame or with a electric CALROD. However, the control panel that drives the whole operation runs of 12 volts.

You have a battery and generator and are plugged in and it still doesn't work? You will find a fuse on the control panel in the compartment accessible from the outside of your unit. Check/replace the faulty fuse and you will be back in business.

I hope this helps you and hubby with your Norcold Frig. Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com. If you found this solution to be helpful, please vote. Thanks

sounds to me like a grounding issue. I would check all my ground paths and look for poor connection or corroded contacts, broken or almost broken wires etc. Hope this helps :)
