Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
I have bought a Acer 4315 and i am having problems trying to get this laptop on wireless
I have bought a wireless key for an acer 4315 but i cannot find place where i would be able to put this wireless key in.
On the wireless key it have the following information:
FCC ID: PPD-AR5BXB63
I do not have the maunal for this laptop so i am looking for help on how to get this laptop on wireless.
I hope you will be able to help.
What do you mean wireless key ? is it wireless usb ? or wireless card ?
did you buy it from acer ?
if it is wireless usb adapter, just plug it in the usb port and install the driver for that usb.
if it is wireless card (acer). Open the back of your laptop, you can see the slot. just insert your wireless card in to the wireless slot and attached the both wireless antena (is should be black and white)

RE: FCC ID PPD-AR5BXB63
(PCI EXPRESS MINI CARD) 802.11 B/G
I have just removed one of those from my laptop suspect it of being pants or knackered or summit, now upgrading to N draft wifi, after a week of hair pulling trying to get my wifi internet connection working not bin'ing it just putting it on one side, just decided to try it in the other pci express mini card slot, see if that works better.
It has two wires connected to it one to the MAIN connector which is a black wire and another white wire to the AUX connection, to remove it just remove the cover on the underside of the lap top, normally sort of hinged (bigger lugs ) of the longest edge of the cover, a little tricky to remove the first time you do it, but some tlc and a small flat screw driver does it working carefully around the edge.
Then unplug the two cables and remove the two screws small philips cross head screw driver, and lift from the same end as the screws to release the connectors, the FCC ID sticker on mine was on the underside, so I could not see it until I removed the card.
you can get drivers from http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=atheros
this link shows where to insert the card on a acer aspire 7520
should be similar though
hope this helps
