How to fix a missing operating system on acer aspire laptop?

I hate to break it to you, but you probably need to buy a new OS. They can be bought in a supermarkets electronic software aisle for (cringe) around $120. You can also order a disk from Microsoft for about the same price. Buy Windows - Microsoft

I just installed Alice Madness Returns on my new laptop.

Most key codes can only be used in one computer at a time, it seems that the game program thinks the key is in use in another computer which essentially it is, you can try contacting the company you got the game from and have the other laptop which crashed "disconnected" from the key code, you can also try to activate the game on a friends internet connection at their house this way the game won't recognise the IP address.

Missing keys for HP laptop

You can easily replace those laptop keys, you will need to know the laptop model number, you can go to places like www.replacementlaptopkeys.com and enter in your model number, and when you get them in your laptop will be like new again, I have purchase three times for different model, and each time the laptop keys were very easy to install, but they also have videos on the site if you never done it before. Dell 6400 was functioning normally. Then a blue screen came on stating " fatal error occured, laptop needs to shut down ect..." I tried to re instal xp, then message came back " Set up did not find any...

In all notebooks and laptops you have Recovery CDs that you use in a situation like this. If you have the recovery disks, then insert the disk number 1 in to the drive and reboot. Follow the instructions and WIndows gets installed. You loose all data and programs. You will have to reinstall all of them including MS Office etc etc. But all the programs that came as OEM will be reinstalled. If you are trying to install WIndows the way it is done on a PC then you miss out on many facilities like WiFi, the Fn keys etc. You do not have to buy a new HDD unless the old HDD crashed because it got damaged. In that case you do need a new HDD. But the installation procedure stays the same.

Keyboard is missing the D key what should I do

Hello

I would suggest that you just try to find the spesifick letter you need, a new keyboard for that device will cost you a new laptop. Go to any computer hardware store near you, they usually have odd parts that they give away, maybe you are lucky. Otherwise just contact the manufacturer and order the letter you need. Hope this can help you.

Best regards

Hard drive crash, not usable at all; downloaded xp drivers and computer drivers but cannot get them installed. Hard drive not recognized.

When you install a new harddrive, it has no Operating System on it.
Windows XP and Windows Vista, are examples of an Operating System.

Each laptop manufacturer, has their own system of changing a laptop harddrive. Some allow you to press a key or two, to put the laptop in a state where it will save the basic Operating System files, and when you install the new harddrive, it will transfer them over to it.

Some laptop manufacturers do have this option.

You either have to take the harddrive out, install it into an external enclosure for a harddrive, (Uses a USB cable) Then attach the external enclosure via the USB cable, to another computer, and use a 'mirror' imaging program to save the Operating System to that computer.

Then the new harddrive is installed in that external enclosure, and the Operating System is 'mirrored' over to it.

Just information for you, as you cannot do this now with a crashed harddrive.
Your option now, is to buy a genuine copy of the Operating System you had on the laptop, and install it.
Not what you wanted to hear, huh?

You need to buy whatever version of Windows XP it had, (WinXP Home or WinXP Pro), or Windows Vista.
If it was Windows Vista, I suggest getting at least the Windows Vista Home Premium version.

I personally prefer Xp over Vista.
Tigerdirect.com, and Newegg.com, have these.
Look for Software>Operating Systems.

OR, you can simply put Ubuntu Linux on it for free.

Computer crashed and will not restore.

if u tried installing windows from a CD onto the HDD and it still says missing ntldr. seems like a Bad hard-drive.

you can restart by pressing control-alt-delete.

then, try booting from windows CD and repairing the windows installation. if it gives u file copy errors.then, it is a HDD failure. get a new HDD.
