Question about Wurlitzer Classic 2100 Shelf System

1 Answer

Hi I have a 2104 Wurlitzer and the buttons are sticking I think it needs a service but could it be that the mech needs oiling or something? I haven't done anything to it myself but if it is easy enough to do I will give it a try. If you could let me know what I should do and what type of oil to use (WD40?) on a cotton bud? I would be grateful for any assistance you can give. Many thanks, Martin.

When you say 'sticking' are you sure it is a physical problem or could it be that the selection process is pausing before releasing the buttons? There is a latch solenoid on the keyboard which can get sticky. Its the big coil about the size of a cotton reel.
Don't use WD40 on anything to do with any jukebox unless you are ONLY trying to free it up and then oil it afterwards. WD40 is NOT a lubricant, it is a releasant and when it dries it makes things worse.

I have a Seeburg Select-O-Matic jukebox, model M1000, doesnt scan or move only spins, what could be the problem? It doesn't pick up the record or move at all, just spins.

I think you mean a Seeburg M100C
This is known as the "sit and spin" The main clutch is not shifting properly. This is a lubrication issue. the old grease has become glue like and is gumming everything up. The main clutch is located between the record rack and the record mechanism. Spray the s**t out of it with WD40 you may have to let it soak over night or take the record rack off. Don't remove it unless you have to. make sure that you blast that clutch (see pi of clutch) The thing at the thumb needs to move up and down freely. it work on gravity!!!

DO NOT REMOVE THE CLUTCH AS PICTURED
Remember you will need to spray through the record rack to get at it, so you will need a good flashlight to see it.

Make sure that the trip lever is not sticking. the can be gotten to easily. 24614542-gg2ae1cwkykr1dpptmtggk30-2-2.jpg
These pic may look slightly different from your C but the mech is basically the same. The trip lever in the pic is at rest. yours is likely up at an angle. Try raising it up or down after spraying.\

Once you get it moving again make sure you oil the piont with liquid bearings or other quality oil. Because WD40 will not keep it going it will gum up again if you don't oil. Do not over oil. it has a way of getting between contact that it's not supposed to. AND keep using it every day for a while.

I have a Wurlitzer CD jukebox. The arm picks up a CD and immediately returns it to the rack then repeats.

The arm is not closing a switch or a switch is stuck closed in the mech area. You will probably need to clean all moving parts with alcohol because chances are, the old oil or grease has become sticky and things are not moving correctly, especially if you notice the arm moving slower than it should. Check all switches and use a little alcohol on them too.

I purchased a used Wurlitzer 1015, question When selecting number 51 is a code number 82 and does not play can you explain me this, what the problem is thanks

The number of Cds in the carousel can be set on the Credit unit to stop it playing fresh air if for example you only have 50 Cds and not a whole 100. Sounds like yours is set to 50 so won't play anything over 50.
I 'think' this is what you do.
On the computer credit unit...
Service Switch ON...Press LT button.
Press 5 on the keyboard once.
Enter 0000
Service Switch off.
Press LT or turn machine off/on.

Hello,

A flashing 8 indicates that the gripper arm is not returning to the idle position. It could in fact be returning, but a switch is not operating properly. Feel free to email me for further troubleshooting help. tech@wurlitzer-ohio.com.

JUKEBOX WAS SHUT OFF WITHOUT REJECTING ALL THE RECORDS.

What exactly do you mean by "shut off before all the 45's were rejected" ? The mech only load one record at a time, either from the left or right side of the carousel. If the power was shut off before a record unloaded from the turntable, you can manually return the mech to the start position. Do this by getting in to the back of the juke. on the upper right, near the top of the deck, there is a motor. There should be a little white gear coming from the bottom of it. I am assuming if you look in the middle of the mech, you will see a cam with a lobe on one side of it. Turning the white gear will advance the mech adn turn the cam counter clockwise. As the lobe on the cam nears the front of the mech, the record lifting arms should pull down clear of the carousel and return the record to the carousel. Stop turning the gear when the lobe of the cam has driven the lifting arms downward. Inspect your pin bank and push down any "popped" pins. This will prevent the juke from trying to start when you turn it back on.

Hope this helps

The manuals for the dispensers are on www.gibson.com (I think) because they now own Wurlitzer.
