I'd first try something like jeweler's rouge or Flitz or Twinkle brand polish on a soft cotton cloth to smooth it out.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the control panel frame assembly, which comes with a new keypad and display window.

It's actually a pretty easy do it yourself job.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Next, disconnect the strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame.

My microwave key pad was accidentally cleaned with - a751fbf.jpg

Then carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Let me know if I can help further.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I have accidentally locked my microwave oven (profile performance convection oven). I was cleaning the front. Can you tell me what to do?

Got you covered. Here you go:

Microwave - Explanation of the Child Lock Out Feature
Many microwave control panels can be locked to prevent accidental use or access by children.
There are two different ways to lock the control panel:
    1. Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for 3 seconds. The display will show "LOCK" and then revert to the time of day.
A small "L" will appear in the corner of the display as a reminder that the control panel is locked. If anyone tries to use the microwave, the display will show "LOCK".
    2. On some models, press and hold the 5 and 7 pads simultaneously for 3 seconds.
To unlock the control: Repeat the procedure which was used to lock the control. (Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for about 3 seconds or hold the 5 and 7 pad simultaneously for 3 seconds.)

    Hope that does the trick.

    Key pad not working

    Hi there,

First of all try this - - unplug Microwave and remove the back panel to gain access the the control panel. There is a ribbon connector that connects keypad to control. Remove the key pad from control and use a pencil eraser and clean the end of this ribbon connector wher it fits into control . Reconnect and see if that corrects the problem, If this will not works then You'll have to replace the control (key pad control).

    Good Luck!!

    Thanks

    Microwave is scratched

    You will need the following:
Polishing compound, jeweler's rouge or whitening toothpaste
    Electric buffer
    Lamb's wool buffing pad
    2 ounces of ammonia
    2 quarts of water
    Rubber gloves
    Safety goggles
    Lint-free paper towels or cloth

    Step 1:
Apply polishing or jeweler's rouge to a lambs wool buffing pad. You can either buff the scratch by hand using a circular motion or with an electric buffer on medium speed.

    Step 2:
Wash the polishing compound, jeweler's rouge or whitening toothpaste off from time to time in order to check on the progress of the scratch removal.

    Step 3:
Mix two ounces of ammonia with two quarts of water. You may want to be sure to hold your nose closed during this process! Also, always wear rubber gloves and safety goggles when working with ammonia.

    Step 4:
Clean the glass surface with the ammonia water with a clean soft sponge.

    Step 5:
Dry the glass with a lint free towel. If the scratches are not completely gone, they should at least be less apparent. If there is no significant difference, consider contacting a glass company to replace or rebuff the glass.

The keypad does not work. The display screen says "Press -----k". I'm assuming it's telling me to press clock to set time. But none of the keys work when I press any. Earlier only the Start/Pause key...

try powering down for 30 seconds. if that doesn't work the keypad is shorted or open. do not spray cleaner directly onto key pad when cleaning. it will short it out. rather spray cleaner onto a rag then wipe.

3M 7447 pads get at auto parts store or more aggressive 180 grit sandpaper going with the grain of course. For daily cleaning use DeBruce Polish, it is non-toxic and odorless. DeBruce polish is also non-abrasive, also use DeBruce Polish on glass/ceramic cook tops. We get DeBruce Polish at debrucepolish.com
