Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I need to run Internet Explorer 5.5 in order to use a legacy program. Can I run it in addition to Internet Explorer? How can I set it up so that it does not have access to the internet? Will Microsoft automatically download the security updates 5.5 needs? I am a paid member, but can not get logged in or receive a password reset from my main e-mail.

Short answer NO
You can if you use Virtualisation, you can create a virtual machine, install whatever OS you wish and install IE 5.5 and you dont need to let it connect to the internet.
If you look around you can find free images of most versions of windows.
Google for more info, also check this site out http://www.virtualbox.org/

If your Internet Explorer keeps randomly crashing (closing by itself), there may be an add-on or temporary page disrupting the connection. Every time you browse the web, Internet Explorer keeps track of the websites you visit. It keeps these pages, along with cookie trackers, in the "Temporary Browsing History" folder. Some websites cause Internet Explorer to crash.

Open the Internet Explorer browser. Go to "Tools > Delete Browsing History." Hit "Delete All." Check off the box that says "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons." Hit "OK." Close and reopen the browser. b> Disable Add-Ons b> Go to "Start > Search." Type "Internet Explorer" and hit "Enter." The computer will search for any files with this label. Double-click on the file that says "Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)." This will allow you to browse in IE without any additional plug-ins or add-ons that might be causing the browser to crash. b> Reset Internet Explorer b> Open the IE browser. Go to "Tools > Internet Options." Hit "Advanced." Click on "Reset" and then hit "Enter." Close and reopen the browser. You might have to many programs trying to or accessing your computer or the internet at the same time or a virus Scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager applications and processes to see you what's running and ticking over if you see anything you don't need running select end now and you might uninstall that specific program if you or computer does not require it to run and some unnecessary programs that could be jamming up your computer also under processes see what is ticking over in the background again if you see something you don't need to be running select end now and users you will see who is using your computer

Windows and Internet Aksplir 8 has been upgraded and did not work after 9

When you upgraded to Internet Explorer 9, it made a backup of Internet Explorer 8 and replaced it. If you are running windows xp you would have had the Beta release of IE 9, as the full blown release will not run on xp. It was designed only for Vista or Windows 7.

In order to get IE 8 back, you will need to go to Start > Control Panel and look for the option to Uninstall or Change Programs or the Icon for Programs and Features if in icon view. Once the list of programs loads, look for Internet Explorer 9 and then highlight it and click Uninstall at the top of the screen. It will remove the new version and replace it with your previous version. You will need to reboot the machine when it is finished.

Once back up and running you should have IE 8 back in place and fully functional.

You could have a slow internet connection, malware and spyware. Or need to clean your internet files to speed up your internet browser. Try downloading,installing and running ccleaner and spybot

Every time that i'm trying to share a video on faceboock, it's appears a yellow message in the internet explorer tab saying: this tab has been recovered. What I can to do for to fix this troubleshoot?

Hi,

I suspect the issue is cuased by an incorrect setting or third party software. I have the following suggestions.

Suggestion 1: Reset Internet Explorer settings
=============================
1. Please open Internet Explorer, click "Tools", and click "Internet Options".
2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab.
3. Refer to "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" section, and click "Reset".
4. Click "Close" when the resetting process is complete.
5. Close Internet Explorer and restart it.

Suggestion 2: Run IE without Add-ons
=============================
1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
2. Visit website in this IE.

Does it work?

Hope it helps.

Check

1. That all of your homepages are in the same security zone... one may be in
the Trusted zone while the rest are in the internet zone (Tools>Internet
Options - Security tab)

2. Make sure that none of your installed toolbars have their popup blocker
turned on. You don't need these and they can interfere with the built in IE
popup blocker.

Always test IE by running in no-Addons mode.
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer(no Addons).
