Keyboard trouble in Toshiba Portege M100

The laptop senses that the CTRL key is being depressed all the time. This can be resolved by using the on screen keyboard and typing a few keys. But the problem resumes after each shut down

My toshiba also does this; the keyboard just locks up and I can't type

anything. It shows that the ctrl keys are being held down, while I'm not touching them at all and it can't be food/such. At times when I go to task manager it shows 'Kenotify' and when I end it sometimes the keyboard unlocks. I was wonder kk did you find a solution for this?

Same intermittant CTRL key problem w/ M100. "Sticks" open or - deactivating the keyboard - closed. When stuck open, a usb keyboard works, suggesting that the problem is in the keyboard or its connections.

i have the same problem with keys randomly getting stuck. i have tried removing the keyboard but it still beeps as though a key is being pressed. so i believe its a problem with the motherboard.

    i'm using a toshiba satellite m100.

Any leads would be much appreciated

I have the same problem with the "V" key randomly getting stuck. i have tried removing the keyboard but it still beeps and the V key continue being pressed . i believe its a problem with the keyboard control on the motherboard. Anyone have a manual or a schema of the Satellite M100 laptop to help me find that controller on the motherboard, send me information to fersango@gmail.com.

I was cleaning my keyboard (toshiba portege m100) the other day, with a baby wipe (a bit too vigorously i guess). When i turned on the laptop later, the keyboard stopped working. None of the keys would work. Any suggestions on what the problem might be and how to fix it?

I think its a keyboard problem.Best is to try to change and see or remove internal keyboard cable and use external USB keyboard to check.

I had the same problem and did two things

1. install toshiba common modules
the problem dissappeared for some weeks and came back

2. i removed the whole keyboard from the motherboard and re attatched it
problem fixed

i think the problem is with th cable from the keyboard to the motherboard.
the morons who designed it decided to bend it twice before it gets to the motherboard.

now my problem is that a lot of keys are virtually stuck in all the time so constant beeping from
system speakers.

crappy piece of hardware

Yes the CMOS battery needs to be changed. Then you can go into the BIOS and set the Date & Time.
The CMOS/BIOS will be set back to the defaults when you remove the CMOS battery and this may fix your problems.

You should be able to use an external keyboard....just plug a usb keyboard in and boot up...this is probably your cheapest solution and will get you up and running again quickly :-)

I have a toshiba portege m100 with a bios password set that i need to bypass. toshiba want 80 quid just to look at it. some sorces say short clr1 jumper but i cant find it on my machine. please help.

Most DESKTOP computers have a jumper to "clear CMOS settings",
but most NOTEBOOK computers do NOT have that jumper.

The password exists to protect the owner of the computer, should a thief be trying to use the computer.

You probably can remove the disk-drive, and copy the files onto a new computer, if you don't want to pay TOSHIBA to bypass the password.

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one.

Is this toshiba portege m100 a pentium 4 or equivalent ?

why dont you have a look in your bios setings and see what is registered there--although this is by no means a guarentee of what your system is running especially if the engineer who configured it was a monkey or chimpanzee.
gointo bios by pressing F2 at start up

Toshiba portege r500 keyboared short cut keys not working

drivers wont help it seems to me you might have a broken line sometimes common in second hand laptops where keyboards have been removed time after time its a plastic ribbon cable which slots into an interface socket on the mainboard, you could get somebody to check that the cable hasnt been pulled out of the slot,or if liquid was spilled then a replacement keyboard is then the way to go.
