Question about GPS
You can follow this procedure on how to activate your GPS unit.
1.Connect the TomTom device to the computer with the USB cable. Switch the power of the device on and allow it to power up. The device will show an alert message that it has been hooked to the computer, and it will show up on the computer as a connected device.
2.Start TomTom Home. The software should start when the device is recognized by the PC, but may need to be started manually. On either computer format, simply double-click the software's icon.
3.Log in to your TomTom account. In order to purchase, store or activate a map, you have to be logged into your TomTom account. Users will receive log-in information upon registering their unit. On the TomTom Home's first screen, click the button to log in. On that screen, users will be prompted to enter their user name and password.
4.Receive automatic activation. TomTom devices should automatically detect new maps installed on the device or downloaded from TomTom. If it does not, the map will need to be manually activated.
5.Manually activate the map. If TomTom Home shows a prompt to manually activate the map, find the device code and product code for the device. Product codes are 15-character combinations printed on the product card inside of the original packaging.
Device codes are software-based codes generated on the device. With the device unplugged from the computer and in driving mode, press the bottom right corner of the screen. This will take the user to an information screen, which displays the map version in the bottom right corner. Press the version button. The version screen will display the 10-character device code.
With these two codes in hand, go to the TomTom activation website (see Resources below) and enter the two codes. TomTom will provide a unique activation code.
When attempting to activate the map in TomTom Home, the software will prompt the user to enter the activation code. At this point, enter the code generated by the activation website..
