Decimal mode casio

Your problem is not with the scientific display, rather it is with decimal representation (approximate) or fraction/radical (exact). representation.
If your results are in fraction/radical form press the [S<>D] key to switch from one to the other.
The calculator is by default in the MATHIO t output mode: results are in fraction/radical form.
If you don't like to work with this mode just change the IO mode to LineIO. To do so, press [SHIFT][Mode](Setup) and selct 2:LineIO

Not quite true for OS 2.56 MP for the TINspire with Ti84 keyboard. To convert a complex decimal value, that you just calculated, into a fraction use the command Math [1:>Frac] and it will convert the value to complex fractions

How do I convert any decimal into a fraction?? ex: sin45 is 0.8509035245 (press which buttons to make a fraction)

Not all decimal representations have equivalent fractions. Take pi. Its approximate value as given by the Casio FX9750II is 3.141592654. This is just an approximation because the string of decimal digits in pi has no end. It continues . Such a number that cannot be represented by a ratio of two integers is not rational, not a fraction. It is called irrational.Other such numbers are ?2, ?3,?5, e the base of natural logarithms.
As a matter of principle, if a number is called irrational, it is because it is not rational (not a fraction), and it makes no sense to try to cast it into fraction form.

However, if you truncate an irrational number so as to keep only a finite number of decimal digits, then that truncated number can be represented by a fraction, but qualitatively speaking, it is not the original irrational number.
Thus if you decide to use 3.141500000000000000....0 as an approximate value of pi then you write
3.1415=31415/10000 and the calculator will convert it to the mixed fraction 3u283u2000. To effect this conversion, you press the [FD] key to the right of [a b/c]. If you want an improper fraction 6283u2000 you press [SHIFT][[FD].

As to the value of sin 45 you quote, you should be aware that it is valid for an angle unit in radians.
It is an approximation because the radian unit is based on the value of pi, which, as I said above, is an irrational number.
If you use the degree angle unit, sin45 deg is actually equal to 1/?2 or ?2/2 and this is clearly irrational, and it cannot be represented as a fraction. In conclusion it makes no sense to try to cast it into such form.
On the other hand, sin 30 deg or cos 60 deg are both exactly equal to 1/2. The calculator will convert them to a fraction.

On a more general note, the calculator will always be able to convert a fraction into an approximate decimal number, but the converse may not be possible. It depends on the number of display space available on the screen.

When i add 12.3 + 12.3 I get the anwser in fraction form instead of decimal form.

If the result is already calculated and displayed, press the [S<=>D] key It will convert a fraction or radical to decimal. This is always possible. If the result is decimal it may be converted to a fraction or a radical (Not always possible).

If the expression to be evaluated is still in the command line and you have not pressed the [=] key, you can force the result to be displayed in decimal format by pressing [SHIFT][=] instead of just [=].

More permanently. If you do n o care for fractions and radicals, set the Input/Output mode to LineIO. To do do press [SHIFT][MODE] to access the (SETUP) screen and select [2:LineIO]

How do you change from fraction form to decimal form

Once a result is displayed you can convert it from fraction to decimal by pressing the [S<=>D] key.
Alternatively, press the keys [SHIFT][=] to get a result instead of just [=].
You can also configure Input output mode of calculator to LineIO and you will not get fractions nor radicals, just decimals.
To set LineIO as the default IO mode press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO].

I can't find this button on my calculator / this

A fraction is in fact a ratio of two number: a division of a numerator by a denominator. The key used for the division operation is the one above the multiplication sign and below the caret [^], and in thee rightmost column of keys.

Beware that this calculator converts any ratio of two numbers into a decimal value. To keep a fraction in a fraction form you must use the [|=>Frac] or [ToFrac] command. To convert a decimal result to a fraction, use the [|=>Dec] command.
These commands are accessible through the CATALOG or more easily by pressing [MATH] (under the ALPHA key) and selecting [1:|=>Frac], or [2:|=>Dec]
Ex: to keep 27/48 in fraction form you enter
27 [/] 48 [MATH][1:|=>Frac] [ENTER]. Result is 9/16
You will notice that the resulting fraction is reduced to its simplest form.
To convert the above result from fraction to decimal press [MATH][2:|=>Dec]

A fraction can always be approximated by a decimal value but the converse is not always possible.

When I divide the answer is in fraction form not decimal form how do i get it back

There are two options.

1) Whenever you want the answer in decimal form, place a decimal after at least one of the numbers.
For example: instead of using (1/2) use (1/2.)

2) Press the "Mode" button. Scroll down the list that appears until you find "Exact/Approx". If you set it to "Approximate", then it will always give the answer in decimal form. If you set it to "Exact", it will give the answer in fraction form.

Values are displayed in decimal form automatically whenever the total number of digits of a fractional value exceed 10. Otherwise you will have to press the d/c key each time to make it a decimal.
