Go to this website, upper right hand corner and do a parts look up. Search for your model and that good stuff they ask of you and then choose mower housing should be there, browse the site it's really cool and has a lot of info.

I did a sample search for generic riding mower deck and found great diagram of belt routing. Give it a try you will find same results Good Luck! Don't forget the thumbs!

hi there, ive been doing a bit of head scratching over this one as i needed to check my facts. i think the belt has a automatic spring loaded adjuster so it sounds as if you need a new belt for it.
good luck

I am currently looking at buying a troybilt horse with serial # 340455. Can someone let me know what year this is?

That tiller was made sometime between 7/1/78 and 1/1/79. This is the Horse II model and is a four speed one belt tiller. The Horse I was a two speed two belt tiller. These are very good tillers if they have been reasonably taken care of.

I need a new belt on rototiller.

To replace your tiller belt you will have to :
Take a few pictures before you get started so you know how everything goes back together.
- 1) Remove the belt guard
- 2 ) Loosen the belt pulley and remove spring, remember how this was attached.
- 3 ) Pull the belt through housing and off of the transmission pulley.
Now grab your new belt and install in reverse order.

What is the easyist way to change belt on older troybilt horse tiller without pulling motor

You dont need to pull the motor ... in fact if you do , that will not help you. We are talking about a genuine Troy, right? Bujilt in Troy not Cleveland.

At most, you will have to remove th reverse disk.

Take off the off the old belt(s) (mine 6 hp Horse is a older two belt drive). You must be in neutral. Pull the belt off the back of the engine pulley and down to give you slace to get it off the transmission pulley then pull it away.

It is very easy to say and a llittle harder to do but not as hard as you think, believe me. I have 2 belts and have replaced them several times.

YOU CAN DO IT>

How do I change the belts on a troy bilt tiller

remove plastic belt cover
remove the guard,belt/pulley
work in the right side first:
remove the rigth-side wheel
remove the screws of the bumper
remove 2 screws on bracket/transmission assembly
pull the bracket
install the new belt
reinstall the right side screws and wheel

do the same in the left side
Ps: remove the belt guide, and reverse return spring

Belt assembly on a garden star tiller

The belt is no doubt on right but if the belt is thicker than the old one it will continually grab onto the side of the pulley causing enough friction to move the tiller, this could be kind of dangerous.

I'm sure you were sold the wrong belt, if you still have your old one take it with you when you go to get another belt and don't let the salesman tell you that's the right belt.
