Question about Canon MultiPASS F60 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printerhead problem My printer was moved from one house to another. The printerhead was not secured so that it didn't slide back and forth. Now when I try to turn it on, the printerhead slides very fast to the right and slams into the side, then it will move a little and vibrate very loudly. Can you help me figure out what happened? I have not used this printer very much at all. Thanks

Printer will not turn on

If you are encountering power problems with your printer, please go through the following checklist:

  • Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely and directly to the power outlet. Power surge protectors can draw power away from the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and the back of the printer and then reconnect it.
  • Check the power supply box (if there is one) to see if it is warm or cold, as there could be a defective power supply issue.
  • If there is access to a voltmeter, test the power supply to ensure that it registering the correct amount of voltage (most Lexmark printers have a 30Volt output).
  • Make sure the correct power supply is connected to the printer.
For the problem where the cartridge carrier "slides back and forth", it could be due to the cartridges or the encoder strip (transparent strip seated behind the cartridge carrier) has gotten loose from its position. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:
  1. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center for the loading position.
  2. Check the encoder strip and make sure it is secured in its place.
  3. Close the printer cover.
  4. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply (black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer) and put it back after 30 seconds.
  5. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  6. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  7. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
  8. If no error appears, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I touched (didn't hold) the MAR REL key, tried backspace to where I want the left margin, would not back space for me.

Put a shot of WD40 on the silver shaft that the carrier slides on and move it back and forth a few times. then try tthe same thing that you did again.

I get a 6a00 error, the first time i start up my canon pixma mx850. I tried to move the printerhead manually and that works fine. But i still get this error everytime. When I look at the sliding mechanism...

if it's 6A00 then theres a problem with the cleaning unit where the printhead parks. Look for any paper scraps in that area,
the two foam pads that must cover/protect the heads when the cartridge is parked are jammed up, preventing the head cleaning squeegee from moving back and forth. Just to the right of these pads is a piece of blue plastic, part of the assembly holding the foam pads . very gentle downward pressure on this blue plastic frees the pads and the squeegee could move back and forth again. and will clear ur issue

there is a safety pin lodged under the far right side (home base). gently push the unit to the left to expose the imposter, and remove it

Noisy hp7450 printer

There's a rubber part in the printer on the right inside the printer underneath the print carriage that slides back and forth. If this has moved it will foul the print head. I moved mine back into the right place and the print head now moves freely.

Hope this helps,

What is the cartridge cradle

The cartridge cradle is where the ink cartridges are installed. It slided back and forth on a silver rail. If the rail gets dirty, the cradle can stick and not move freely. Try cleaning the rail with a soft clean dry cloth.

I've also see the cradle become disconnected from the belt that moves it back and forth. If that has occurred, and it is out of warranty, it will need replacement.

it's a common problem caused by some wires that gets tangled inside the right side housing of the printer.

make sure to check if the printer head moves to the center or cartridge-loading position...
if this doesn't happen, turn off your printer and proceed to the next steps...
unscrew all the screws to remove the housing or cover on the rightside of the printer (make sure the printer is facing you)... uncoil or untangle the wires... after you did that make sure to set or rest the wires to where it can't be tangled or spooled again. you can use tie straps to secure the wires away.
screw the housing side back on the printer. turn your printer on...lift the front cover... if the cartridge dock moves to the center... YOUR PRINTER IS FIXED!!!

When the printhead moved left did it hit the left hand travel stop really hard? If so it's probably the same thing that happened to mine-a failure of a travel sensor, which is part of a circuit board. Turned out to be a repair shop job which took forever due to Canon's inability to provide spares for its products.
