Question about Rancilio (RAROCKYND) Grinder

1 Answer

Rocky has a tumbling (unbalanced) sensation when grinding you can feel and hear. Seems less if you back off grind # to 20 from 8. Been using 8 for a year with no problem before today.

  1. take the bell(bean container) carefully out.
  2. disassemble the upper holder of burr
  3. you will see now the burrs, clean good coffee remains than disassemble the burrs
  4. after disassembling burrs clean good the lower and upper burr holder.
  5. carefully switch on the grinder tan switch off(few seconds) during lower plate is rolling touch with marker the surface of burr holder very softly,

  • if it is ok you will have complete circle

Washing machine shakes badly when spinning.

If not an unbalanced load, then it is an unbalanced drum. Turn the drum by hand when it is empty and it should spin smoothly (not freely because it is attached to the motor so there will be resistance). Can you hear a knocking or grinding? Push and pull the drum in and out, again any knocking? With your hands at 3 and 9 o'clock push with one hand while pulling with the other and rock the drum back and forth. Try it with hands at 12 and 6. Does it feel loose or makes a knocking?
Grinding is usually a sign if the bearings going or gone and knocking may indicate a broken drum holder (sometimes called a spider)
If everything sounds and feels okay then it may just be the machine is not level or secure. Rock the machine and if it wobbles check the feet and adjust until no more rocking. The feet do bend or adjust themselves over time, even making some kind of impression on the floor that makes it settle to a different level.

Try to redo what you have been doing, but set it to the extremes to see if everything is functioning. If you set the grind say to 4, it should come out very slow or maybe not at all.

I had new brake pads and rotors put on my 2005 equionox...now I am getting a grinding noise (intermitently) when making a final stop at a light or stop sign. Sometimes it feels like it's not stopping...

May be the grade of pad that was used in replacement,Would find out if ceramic brake pad is available for this vehicle. They usually cost a little more but provide better perfomance typically less noise issues and create less brake dust.

I disassembled the grinding blades and put it back together but now I can not get a find grind

HI
When you reassemble the removable burr assembly, you first must make sure that there are no grinds left in the main body's threads. These grinds will prevent the burrs from going any farther down. The burrs must touch and then back off to zero the grinder. Don't ever leave them touching though.

Silvia pressure issue

The Silvia comes equipped with a "pressurestat" that may have gone out of adjustment. Do a google search on that and you will find numerous pictoral guides on how to do this. The owner's manual that came with the machine (they have electronic versions at espressotec.com, among other places) will also give you basic instructions. Good luck!

to get starting point you adjust burrs to touch each other. when they touch each other you have finest grinding, after you hear metal voice you turn back 3 dots and grind only for 1 dose. you check it, if it goes to slow, you go one more back and clean gruinder, THAN you grind 1 dose more. 2 or 3 times and you will get perfect grinding.

Rocky grind settings

The little button on the top locks the grind to the set position. If it is falling down and not engaging the collar, the collar will turn and rest the grind to a very fine setting. If this is happening, you have to clear the hole that it sits in. Easier said than done, but not too difficult.
First, remove the bean hopper. Then carefully unscrew the collar all the way out. You will see the grinding burrs here. This is where you can change them if needed - not our problem now. Lift out the button out, and there should be a spring too. The hole frequently gets packed with coffee grounds. You can use a drill bit - by hand - or a philips screwdriver (takes longer) to take the grounds out of the hole. Replace spring and button, working it up and down to ensure proper movement. Clean the threads of the collar with a brush and carefully screw back together. This step is important! You could ruin the grinder if the collar is not straight!
When you get it screwed in most of the way, start the grinder. Slowly screw it in until you hear a "zing" when the burrs touch. Stop and back off another 1/4 turn. This should be the espresso setting and the button should come up and lock the collar in place.

Good luck!
