When Canon Powershot A95 turned on, lens opens, CHEEPS, then closes, followed by 6 sequences of 'clicking chatter' and further CHEEPS. Message 'E18' appears in lower left of CCD.

Hi,

It is Fixable around $100 - $150.

http://www.e18error.com/

On the above link, you would see a Lawsuit against Canon for the same.

This Error usually Requires a Replacement of Lens which is not cost effective relative to the cost of the Camera.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I purchased a 4GB memory card for use in my A95. I occasionally get a 'corrupted file' error message. Is it possible the card is too big for this model? The card was formatted.

Yes, 4GB card is too big for Canon A95 camera as its hardware does not support such big memory.
Put max 2GB or less memory card in this camera.
Thanks.

Canon PowerShot A95 is using up batteries too fast

My experience seems to show that it's not your camera as much as it is that batteries (AA type cells) don't have the "juice" they used to have. Try using the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries. I've turned many of my customers on to them, and they swear by them!

Canon PowerShot A95 will no longer power up

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try. Pay particular attention to the small contact switches on the battery and flash card doors. Also inspect the battery contact prongs to make sure they haven't been bent to the point that they're not springing the battery to make contact with the battery door.

My canon A95 comes on and goes off after few seconds.

Try to reset your camera using a command in the set up menu. An error message followed by turning itself off, usually means lens jam. Replace the lens.

Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!

I have this problem as well. I thought it was a problem with my NiMH batteries. So, I bought a volt meter to make sure the batteries worked. I have 8 AA NiMH batteries. I charged them all up and tested them with the volt meter. They were all good to go. However, no matter what I put in the camera one of two things happens:
1. I get the "change batteries" message.
2. I don't get the message, but the next time I check the camera (a few days later), one of them is totally drained.
Something is very wrong and I plan on contacting Canon.

Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!

You need to use 2100 mAH or 2300 mAh rechargeable batteries - alkaline batteries will not maintain the high level of power required.
