If by "upgrade" you mean more storage you can't
you will need to by a larger capacity drive . The H.D. is
a plug and play module attached to the side of
your console . and is easily removable.

I hope that answered your question.
If not, please feel free to rephrase it and I'll
respond accordingly.

How big a hard drive can I put in this computer and how much more ram can I add

of the memory - this is toshiba i assume? you should mention manufacturer...

i think this particular model can accept up to 8gb sdram ddr2 memory (better check at shop where you will buy it - or consult toshiba website), now, changing hdd on laptop is easy, but i would rather suggest buying 500gb or 1tb external hdd.

if you wish to change your existing hdd - just purchase bigger, and install it - problem is that you will then need to re-load your operating system, all programs and all related junk on existing hdd - hence: buy 1tb external, copy - or better move all data (photos, documents, movies, favourite p 0rn... whatever you wish), to new hdd, when everything of value you have copied/moved, then either format old hdd and re-install the programs, or just use ccleaner (available at this site
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
choose free version or purchase one if you wish), clean your computer, delete/uninstall programs which you did not access in last 6months, run registry cleaner (several times till you have no errors find message) and you will have again happy and workable computer.

hope this will help you with your decision, do not forget to vote...

This thing is old. Just buy a new computer for cheap. If you upgrade the motherboard and CPU you will have to upgrade the HDD, the memory any video card you have and possibly the CD/DVD player. New motherboard will require newer of all the components I listed. So essentially buy a new computer it will be cheaper.

Have an acer travelmate 4060 would like to upgrade the hard disk to 160 gb Ihad buy a samsum hard disk but it looks like it is not compatible......any sugestions??

Acer TravelMate 4060

the new 160GB Samsung HM160HC or compatible works ok by default only without CD or DVD drive.

The solution is setting the CD drive in master (merge the contact 45 with 47) and the HDD must set slave.

All works OK. any Questions by e-mail: pn_dm@mail.ru

Philips DVDR3450H. How format the HD?

Hi,
Found a document DVDR3450H_3452H_3460H_eurp FWUpgradewk635.pdf Describes procedure of firmware update and disc formatting. Some cut'n'paste from the document:

2. Preparations for new HDD
In the event when the set unable to boot up or recordings not stored due to an defective HDD, the HDD will have to be replaced with the steps describe below:
1. Replace the Faulty HDD with a new HDD.
2. Before connecting the new HDD on the Digital Board ,the jumper pin at the connector of the HDD is to be removed.
3. Connect the new HDD to the Digital Board.
4. Power up the set . It will open the tray and prompt to load the upgrading disc.(the upgrade disc is
the same disc under firmware upgrading.)
5. The set will display
“Load”.
6. Put the upgrade disc and close the tray and the set will show
“Copy” ……… “Boot”
7. The rest of the procedure follows the software upgrade given in 1B -Procedure to apply the firmware upgrade.
*Note : 1)Do not press any button or interrupt the main supply ,otherwise the set may
become defective.
2)When the HDD formatting is successful ,the set will go to standby mode.

Laptop won't boot after new hdd and memory upgrade

Re-seat the memory and the HDD connector. If no change try the mem modules one by one. If no change try it without the HDD connected to see if there is a problem with the new HDD.
