You can use the microsoft update to update your system and update your IE browser too, ie if your operating passes Microsoft validation.

or

You can download the IE 8 installer for your OS version from Miocrosoft site.

IE8 problems

That sounds to me like something is there that got into your system unexpectidly.
I would restore my system to before IE8. Press start and search for restore point. Select the one that Windows made before installing IE8 and go for it.
Install Advanced System Care from iobit.com and run the whole programme. Then if you must have IE8, install it. You will be equiped to deal with anything the net throws at you now.

Hi !

There are some reasons why internet explorer 8 installer does not install.

1. I believe the one you are installing is corrupted, just download new IE8 installer and try to install it.
2. You have installed other internet explorer that might conflict with the IE8 software, just uninstall the previous internet explorer.
3. You computer anti virus firewall is activated, you need to disable it before installing IE8.
4. You operating system is corrupted, somehow missing files and needs to repair your operating system. Don't worry, repairing your operating system would not delete your all software installed, document files and harwares drivers. This only if you are using Windows XP. I hope this is helpful. Good Luck

Lately there have been times when my computer freezes up when I am using Windows Internet Explorer. It seems to me that it has been happening since I have switched to IE8, but I may be wrong. Is this a...

Hello,

The problem is that the memory on your computer is very low that is why your computer freezes, you will need to increase the memory on your computer.

The IE8 file might be might be large and might have consumed so much space on your computer, that leads to the computer freezing up.

You will need to increase the memory card on your computer or better still, you uninstll the IE8 pending the period you increase the memory card on your computer.

You can install the IE8 back after an upgrade in the memory card and all we be fine.

Take care.

How can i downgrade IE8?

Just uninstall IE8. Find the Control Panel (in XP it's in the Start menu) and select Add or Remove Programs. Find IE8, select it, and select Uninstall. Your computer will return to IE7 or whatever earlier version you have installed. IE8 is known to be incompatible with McAfee antivirus.

Won't install without error message

Excerpt from: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/01/26/upgrading-to-internet-explorer-8-release-candidate-1.aspx

There is 1 update required when running IE8 RC1 on multi-core XPSP2 x86 computers:
KB932823 or KB946501.
This update resolves a problem in which an access violation occurs when an application exists on a Windows XP SP2-based multi-core computer. It will be installed automatically if you select “Install the latest updates” option in Setup Wizard. If this update fails to install successfully, IE8 installation will be blocked until you manually install this update from Microsoft Download Center.
So see if you can do a manual install of this update. There are a number of other suggestions in the above link that might also help.

Good Luck!
