The projector most likely needs the "link" that connects the Slide change solenoid and the Slide change mechanism. This "link" is plastic and gets brittle & cracks over time. It is deep inside the mechanism and usually requires an Authorized Service Dealer to make the repair.

The carousel in my slide projector is stuck

I presume you are talking about a kodak projector. Look down into the center of the slide tray as it sits on the projector. There may be a small slot. Get a quarter, put it in the slot and turn it clockwise (?) a little, then lift the end of the tray furthest from the stuck slide. The tray should lift away. WITH THE RING ON, turn the tray over and rotate the metal bottom of the tray until it clicks, returning it to the "zero" position. Turn off the projector (if it's on) and retrieve the slide. Turn the projector on and hit the FWD button to get the arm situated correctly.

Lift gate tray

No. The slide tray should rotate when the forward or reverse buttons are pushed. Slides are not required for correct actuation of the tray. Before attempting any adjustment, try a few different trays (it may be a tray issue!). A 140-slide tray will be much tougher to get correct movement from than with a 80-slide tray on an older slide projector.... The 140 tray pushes the interface specification between a tray & a projector to the max.

I lost the operation manual for my Kodak Carousel Custom 860h slide projector and need to obtain one

The best place to check for a copy of the owners manual would be the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY. They may have it on microfilm there, and maybe will help you out. Because this model of projector is so old, chances of a dealer still having a copy are slim to none. Good Luck!!!

On my kadak 4400 I placed a slide tray with 35mm slides in. After turning the power on I attempted to advance the first slide. Nothing happened with the slide. I turned it off reset the tray and tried. ...

Try turning your projector on without a slide tray. Cycle it 2 or 3 cycles in reverse. Place the tray back on the projector and cycle forward. By cycling it a few times in reverse, it re-sets the cycling mechanism.

Slides will not advamce when you push lever. It is 50 yrs old.

The KODAK Carousel 4600 was manufactured from 1981 to 2004. If the tray won't advance with the push button on the projector, but will reverse, then it is a contact problem under the handle. If it doesn't cycle in forward OR reverse, but the "SELECT" feature does work, then there is a problem with the cycle (orange) wiring or the slide-change mechanism requires an adjustment. If forward, reverse and select ALL don't work, chances are the low-voltage side of the power motor is no longer providing the required voltage. An authorized repair dealer can help you sort this out.

My Kodak Ektagrafic AF-1 Projector just stopped advancing and reversing while I was reviewing slides. I had been using both forward and reverse buttons. There is nothing stuck in it. It will not advance...

The KODAK Ektagraphic AF-1 was manufactured from approximately 1971 to 1981.
The problem you are describing is most likely a broken cycle solenoid "link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid to the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic, which gets hard, brittle & could break over time.
Parts are still available, but the repair process is a intricate one. My best advice is to seek out an Authorized Repair Dealer.

Problems with using a 140 carousel on a Kodak 4600

There is nothing wrong with your slide trays. Your projector needs an adjustment to the cycle contact assembly. The constant cycle mode is a dead-giveaway. You need to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer for this adjustment. Should be relatively quick - - it takes longer to get the case apart than to make the repair!

I'm having a problem loading a tray onto my kodak carousel 4400 slide projector any solutions?

First, with the tray off the projector, cycle the projector several times in forward and then in reverse. Next, check to make sure the locking ring on the top on the slide tray is LOCKED ON TIGHT. Then turn the tray upside down. On a 140 Slide tray there is an index notch. On the metal plate there is a index hole. Gently release the metal spring of the tray latch and rotate the metal plate until the notch and hole line up. Now the tray should drop on the projector and index properly.

Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.
