I constantly checked ebay without any luck. Also I contacted seall@iagamerica.com but no response. Do you have any email address I can try?

I have Yamaha receiver but don't know what happened. My son said it suddenly happened. I found one of the two speakers coil popped up. I wish I could fix it. I love the sound of my Modus One-six.

    Many thanks.

I had a blown tweeter in my Modus one-six and after no luck with IAG America (sounded like a teenager taking my call and told me it would be 3 months), I contacted IAG UK by email from their main website and got a reply in about 3 days. She said that since it was an older speaker, the tweeter had to be constructed. I was told the price total with shipping and that if I wished to purchase, to give them a credit card number. As sketchy as it was emailing someone my credit card number, the tweeter arrived within 2 weeks from Britain for a total of $66. Couldn't have asked for better service. Just tell them that their IAG in America is doing a poor job with customer service.

You may want to check ebay, they sometimes have drivers for sale. Additionally, I would contact IAG (International Audio Group). They are the distributor for Wharfedale here in the states and may be able to help you. I also have the modus one-sixes, modus-two's, and modus center and was albe to get replacement parts from IAG, never needed a driver though. How did you blow it anyhow, these speakers can take a beating, are you using a quality amp? Underpowering the speakers and trying to drive them loudly = demise for your speakers.

Wharfedale Modus one six - one woofer cone is cracked. It still plays, but needs to be replaced. Where can I buy a replacement, or is it possible to repair the cone?

Yes, you can bring it to electronic repair shop to rewind the coil. or buy it in the electronic shop. if they don't have same brand you can replaced it with other brand same size and same watts of speakers. thanks

Is the tweeter a stand alone 8 ohm speaker?

yes, but it is attached to circuitry that allows only the high frequecies into it. You can replace the speaker with any 8 ohm tweeter without any difficulty, but if there is a capacitor across or in series with the speaker, make sure you put it on you new speaker the same way.

I just brought some wharfedale one-three speakers and have them hooked up as the rear speakers. Can i get the sub to play still and do i hook the speaker wires in the top or bottom?

Do you mean "Modus 13"?

Put the jumpers back in as shown. Hook your speaker leads to either top or bottom. The entire array of drivers will be active.

Make your receiver aware they are LARGE for the purposes of bass reproduction so some bass will get out to them. FYI, many AVR's will only allow Large Rear speaker selection if you also have Large Fronts. Refer to the manual(s).

Ok..... I have some Wharfedale Modus 8s. My question is, is that the base speaker is crackling a bit. typically when you don't have enough power the tweeters will clip first and go out. perhaps i did...

Dunno how old they are, but I just had an 11-year old pair of woofers re-edged because the foam surround and the adhesive had deteriorated. Upon close inspection the foam surround was noticeably pulled away from the cone in a few spots. Unfortunately, if there is an age-related issue with materials beneath the surface that you can't see, you'd have to pull the driver to check it out.

It wasn't until I turned my bass up loud that anything sounded wrong, which precipitated looking for the culprit (quickly found).

Modus one six speaker not working properly

Hi. If you have an digital multimeter to hand you could always drop the drive unit (the metalwork with the paper cone) out from the enclosure and make sure the resistance of the voice coil is between 4-16 ohms. If there is no reading then the voice coil could be open circuit and the whole drive unit will need to be replaced. If the others rattle check the mounting screws are not slackened off. Especially if you have been driving them hard!

The tweeters are probably blown, i had the same problem.
You can test this by placing the cable on the dismanteled crossover at the back of the speaker. colour blue/yellow.
No high volume please.
See http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-speakers/4549-wharfedale-modus-one-six-crossover-pics.html
for pictures.
If the tweeter is blown it can be dismanteld with the aid of a screwdriver, horizontally.
Place it between the tweeterbowl and the ring which has the mark wharfedale on it. The tweeter comes loose. On second hand sites you can buy little speakers, like modus one or two's with the same tweeters for a good price and put them on your larger speakers.

This how i repaired 2 of my 4 modus eights.

good luck Danny Mol

Tweeters only works when touched!

This is not a solution, but I have the same problem. Obviously, the problem is with the tweeter not the crossover. I can't find a replacement tweeter so i am about to take it to my local stereo repair store and see if they can fix it. If you find a replacement tweeter, let me know.
