Question about Vacuums

I need to replace the belt on the power nozzle of my Hoover Dimension 1000 Model S3491. Unfortunately, I have no written instructions on how to do so. I purchased the vacuum cleaner in the mid-80s. Are the instructions still available? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I believe so, but you would have to contact the Hoover Factory and they would have to send out either the owner’s manual or a copy of the owner’s manual from the fische. I remember this vacuum cleaner well. In order to change the belt you need to remove the 4 screws in the bottom of the power nozzle and then the top cover will lift off from the back to the front and then you can get in to change the belt. Always use the Factory Genuine belts instead of the replacement belts, they last longer and the average belt change for a flat belt is every 4 to 6 months as a rule for the best cleaning. In order to change the belt, lift up the pulley side of the brushroll and slide off the old belt and then slide on the new belt and re-install the brushroll, then use a belt puller or screwdriver with a hook on the end and to pull or stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, once you have it on the vacuum track the belt in a straight line and then reinstall the top cover and screws in reverse. If you have questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hi there! To replace your belt follow these quick steps below.

1. Remove your nozzle or hood, whichever your manual states.
2. Remove the brushroll and slide the old belt off.
3. Replace with specific genuine Hoover belt for your vacuum.
4. Slide the belt over the metal motor shaft.
5. Slide the brushroll through the belt and allow the belt to rest on the portion of the brush roll without any bristles.
5. With brushroll in place pull and slide the brushroll into nozzle making sure that the brushroll end caps are in the correct orientation.

Machine makes a motor noise, but brushes won't turn. Can't see a belt anywhere & can't open it up. Hoover SpinSteam Model #F7431-900

Hello,

This unfortunately is a very notorious problem for the Hoover SteamVac's. I have written a pretty detailed step by step guide on how to diagnosis, and fix this problem though.

Here's a link to the solution I've written on Fixya. A lot of the times the brushes just need to be removed and cleaned, but it may also be the turbine gear assembly has gone bad. Your model doesn't have a belt, instead it's a turbine gear that drives your spin scrub brushes.

If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this solution.

How do I clean the hoover steam vac floor cleaner machine

Nozzle Clean Out tool is NO LONGER AVAILABLE from Hoover. Hoover stopped making this part over 1 year ago, and it's not sold any more. What you'll need to do is remove the dirty solution thank, unscrew the one silver screw on the suction port of the clear window, then turn the machine upside down and remove the two silver screws on the bottom corners of the see thru window. This will then allow you to completely remove the see thru part to clean inside of it. Unfortunately with this model that's really the easiest way to do it now that the tool is no longer available.

I need a replacement belt for Hoover Elite upright vaccum ,model no. U5043-930. What belt do I get?

Hello,

Your vacuum cleaner originally came with Hoover belt part number 38528027, however Hoover has now discontinued this part number, and replaced this belt with the new belt which is part number 38528040.

The new belt is a little bit smaller then your old one, but unfortunately this is the only belt that Hoover currently makes that will fit your model.

Here's a direct link to our website if you still need to purchase one:
http://www.govacuum.com/agbelhoovpar7.html

I have also uploaded the parts diagram and instruction manual for you. The parts diagram gives you every single part number for all parts on your vacuum should ever need to know another part number. The owners manual will give you step by step instructions on how to change the belt, as well as other maintenance instructions.

Part Diagram for Hoover U5227-930:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/vacuumcleanerbacgs/Part-diagram-hoover-u5043-930.pdf

Owners manual is actually for the commercial version of your vacuum, but this will be identical to your instruction manual which Hoover doesn't have available for free:

I hope that this information was helpful to you. If it was, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful by clicking the thumbs up icons in the top corner of the repair.

Thank you very much,

The bottom of the hoover wont work. its not picking anything up and not spinning round.

You most likely will need to replace the belt on this model. There are 4 screws in the corners of the bottom power nozzle. DO NOT remove the 3 that are grouped together (these are the motor screws). once the top is removed then remove 3 roller cover screws. replce belt and reassemble in reverse order.

Hoover dimension 1000 dead after hot

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
If I remember correctly there is a heat sensor in the control panel that might need replacing or the hose could be clogged or the bag too full or the filter could be dirty, this was one of the first computer board models @the time they introduced the model to the market and the heat sensor could be attached to the main computer board, so I would check your owners manual to see if that could be the problem or check the factory’s website to see if you can down load the owner’s manual or a schematic on the vacuum itself, or to call the factory to have them send one out or check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover Model S3281, disassembly instructions

GET TO THE REEL AS FOLLOWS:

(BEFORE YOU START, BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE DIMENSION FROM THE OUTLET)

1). TURN VACUUM OVER AND USE A FLAT-BLADE SCREWDRIVER TO WEDGE/SLIDE THE WHEELS OFF (PUT THE SCREWDRIVER BLADE BETWEEN THE LITTLE BLACK WHEEL BRACKET PIECE AND THE GREY CHASSIS OF THE VACUUM AND SLIDE/WIGGLE THE WHEELS OFF);

2). THE 2 DEEP HOLES AT THE TOP OF EACH WHEEL RECESS LEAD TO 1-1/2" LONG PHILLIPS SCREWS >> UNSCREW THEM;

3). AFTER REMOVING ALL 4 SCREWS, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO EASILY LIFT OFF THE TOP OF THE REEL/MOTOR COMPARTMENT.

4). CAREFULLY LIFT AND ROTATE THE CONTROL PANEL TO THE SIDE.

5). THE REEL IS NOW IN PLAIN SIGHT.

6). I’M STILL TRYING TO FIGURE-OUT HOW TO SAFELY ACCESS THE GUTS OF THE REEL MYSELF. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH INTERMITTENT VACUUM POWER AND ALSO WITH WEAK CORD RETRACTION.

ANYWAY, GOOD LUCK TO YOU !!!
