Question about Vacuums
Generic problem for all Vacuums
I need to replace the

I need to replace the belt on the power nozzle of my Hoover Dimension 1000 Model S3491. Unfortunately, I have no written instructions on how to do so. I purchased the vacuum cleaner in the mid-80s. Are the instructions still available? Thanks in advance.
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I believe so, but you would have to contact the Hoover Factory and they would have to send out either the owner’s manual or a copy of the owner’s manual from the fische. I remember this vacuum cleaner well. In order to change the belt you need to remove the 4 screws in the bottom of the power nozzle and then the top cover will lift off from the back to the front and then you can get in to change the belt. Always use the Factory Genuine belts instead of the replacement belts, they last longer and the average belt change for a flat belt is every 4 to 6 months as a rule for the best cleaning. In order to change the belt, lift up the pulley side of the brushroll and slide off the old belt and then slide on the new belt and re-install the brushroll, then use a belt puller or screwdriver with a hook on the end and to pull or stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, once you have it on the vacuum track the belt in a straight line and then reinstall the top cover and screws in reverse. If you have questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Tips for a great answer:
Sep 18, 2014 | Hoover Vacuums
Rotate nozzle to the vertical position. Lift off front cover.
Remove the two bottom plate screws.
Pivot off bottom plate making sure to unhook center tab on inside edge of nozzle.
Remove agitator and used belt from nozzle.
Put new belt on agitator. Position agitator in nozzle orienting agitator end caps with slots on both sides of nozzle. The belt should line up with tab on inside of nozzle.
Attach belt to motor pulley.
Replace bottom place by first hooking it to center tab on inside of nozzle.
Reposition screws and front cover.
Hope this helps!
