Question about Mackie 1202vlz3 12 Channel Mixer

1 Answer

I need a new mains transformer for my Mackie 1402vlz3 mixer but can't locate on in the UK. NB 1402vlz, not 1202 vlz as per the product below. (Can't get 1402 on the categories). Where can I source one, or what is the appropriate value of an equivalent or alternative transformer

Need a power transformer for a Mackie 1202-VLZ mixer

The transformer itself will have the codes you need to replace it either printed on it or on a label stuck to it. Mouser should have what you need.

Hello, I have a Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro from 1995. It's 110 volts and I want to change it to 220 volts. Do I need to buy a new transformer? I don't want to us an external step-down...

The LEAST expensive thing to do is to buy an external stepdown transformer.
Here is a link:

http://www.world-import.com/transformers.htm

The 100 Watt would be adequate... If you think you might need more you could have a reserve for other equipment... At around $8 USD I don't think you can beat that. The labor cost to change the internal transformer would cost many times what the external transformer costs, not to mention the cost on a new internal transformer.

Transformer appears dead no lights no output

Transformers are VERY reliable. Look for another problem... rectifier, filter caps, fuses, regulators. There is a main fuse and if it is blown, repair the unit before applying full power. To test the unit, put a 40 watt light bulb in series with the hot side of the power cord. The light will act as a resetable fuse and will light when there is a short within the mixer, thus absorbing most of the voltage. Enough current will flow to diagnose the problem.

No volume control with 2 faders on Mackie CR1604 mixer

If all other functions work for those channels, the most likely problem is the fader itself. These can fail and operate more like switches rather than faders. Without witnessing the behavior, I can not state that for sure. While these mixers are not the hardest to work on, they are time consuming. The faders can be purchased from Mackie directly. If you need to have this repaired, any shop that repairs audio gear should be able to erpair this for you. Where are you located?
