Software Opens without prompting and outside buttons stopped working??

My start menu keeps opening without prompting and now all of my outside buttons have stopped working. This just started last week and now my phone is unuseable. I have done soft reboot and a master reboot and still it is gone crazy.

I have the exact same problem. I am not however willing to accept that it is just a "hardware failure". Other things in the software seem to be affected. The delete key on the software keyboard does not function and sometimes you are not able to enter text on either the soft keyboard or the sliding keyboard even when a text box is highlighted. This problem happened all of a sudden, and seems to be around the same time that I connected the phone to another computer at my office, other than my normal home computer.

Your phone is experiencing a hardware failure in it's external buttons, unfortunately there's not much that can be done without taking it to a physical repair center.

You can change the function of any of the buttons at the bottom to open a different application. Here's what I did. I never use the To Do button so I went to Pref and changed the To Do button from To Do to Welcome. Now if it needs to be recalibrated, I just press the To Do button and it opens the Welcome screen. I can still access To Do from the main menu if I want to use it.

I have purchased a Blackberry 8800 off of Criags list and have unlocked it but I cannot make or recieve calls. I do have text messaging and can get on line. It was a company phone that had an IT policy...

Step 1 Ensure the Blackberry Desktop Manager is installed using Blackberry Internet Service, and not Blackberry Enterprise Server. If you are unsure, it would probably be a good idea to uninstall the Desktop Manager and start again.

If you don't have the CD that came with your Blackberry, the Software can be downloaded here.

Step 2 Download the file policy.bin and save it in your Blackberry installation directory (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry).
Step 3 Wipe your Blackberry, creating a backup if necessary. Select Options/Security/Wipe on the Device.

If this option is unavailable, you may have to install the latest software on your Blackberry. You need to Download and install the latest Desktop Manger Software, then the latest Handheld Software. Connect your device, open the Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, and follow the prompts.

Step 4 Close the Desktop Manager if it is open.
Step 5 From the Windows Start Menu select Run..., and at the prompt type regedit. In the tree on the left hand side, navigate to:

HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager

Right-Click the Policy Manager Folder and select New/String Value. Name the value Path. Now, Double-Click the Path Subkey and set Value Data to:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\policy.bin
Step 6 Open the Desktop Manager.
Step 7 Connect the Device.

Verification
Once complete, the Options/Security screen on your Blackberry should not contain references to an IT Policy, you should now be able to change all settings (including password prompts), and install Third Party Applications.

Tmobile wing camera, not opening

your are doing everything right......if its not a software issue, you might need to return the phone and get another one. you are still within buyers remourse. if you want to try and fix it, try just taking the batter out or doing a master reset by goign through start, settings, system, clear storage. it will delete the infor not stored on the sim or media card

On/off switch

I am pretty sure this is a software problem, not a switch problem. The T5 is the Ford Edsel of the Palm range, with many unsolved bugs. I fixed this problem by using shortcut for ON and OFF.

Switch ON:
Use one of the 4 application buttons. The default house button opens the Palm at the menu, but you can change any of the buttons in
Preferences > Personal Buttons
to open whatever application is convenient.

Switch OFF
In
Preferences > Other Offstroke
check Enabled, and Pen Stroke or Screen Tap (or both), and then select the gesture that will turn off the Palm. I use "Screen Tap in top left corner" to turn off.

It's not a real solution, just a workaround. I also flushed and reset the T5 and reloaded from backup, and the problem went away for a while, then came back. It gradually takes longer and longer to switch on and off. There is some bug in the OS, but Palm doesn't seem to care about it.

Contacts button and Start menu item not responding

Since "Contacts" on the start menu fails at the same time as the button, it is more like that there is a software problem, and the button cannot open the applet that is failing. If you want to ensure that you do not have a hardware problem, try remapping the button to open another application. You can do this by going to Settings/Buttons. You might want to try using the Task Switcher, which you can turn on in Settings/System. When you encounter the problem with Contacts, then click on the Task Switcher and see how many programs are open. Use the Taks Switcher to close all the programs, and then try Contacts again and see if it works. Most applications do not close, and if you have many open applications, then it will degrade performance.
