Question about Audio Players & Recorders

I have a Pioneer VSX-4800 receiver. My problem is that one of my relays is bad. I have replaced the power relay in it only to find out it was the other relay was bad. The problem I am having is finding a replacement relay for the one that is bad. I have called Pioneer and the relay manufacturer and was told that they do not have a replacemnet for that relay. The part number from Pioneer is RY351, #ASR-112. The part is a power relay switch and number is G5P-1 12VDC from Omron Electronics. The specs of the relay are: OMRON 12 VDC SPST, 250 VAC 5 AMP/30 VDC coil, Relay Is there some type of relay that I could use in place of the bad one that I have since I can not seem to find that relay or a replacement with the same specs either?

Any relay will do just dont go below the ratings of what you found. the only thing is if you try to replace wityh another type then it might fit your board, you have to relocate then and rewire. what is the relay for? the main power switch for the trans or for the speakers? since you mention you replace one then later found out it is the other one, it thought you are talking about speaker relays. are your sure it is your relay?

My Pioneed VSX-819H is less than 1 year old. Stopped switching from TV/SAT to any other mode. It used to have a slow response, but now it does not respond at all. Have checked all components attached and...

It is usually a computer board issue which controls the unit. You could attempt to replace the bad relay, but you would have to test each part to find out where the electrical break is. You may get lucky and just have a bad switch which controls the selections, or even a bad fuse. Take the cover off and see if there is a faulty fuse, or lose connection. You may be better off taking it to an electrical repair shop.

I have a Pioneer VSX-515-K A/V Reciever. When I plug it in the power relay clicks continuously. I don't have the schematic to troubleshoot the circuit. I just want to make sure it is the relay that's bad...

A bad relay won't pick and release itself. You need to find the cause.

Here's the Service manual.

I have a pioneer elite vsx 36tx receiver that quit working. When I turn it on it just hums. It seems like a power supply but not sure.

I have the same receiver.

Do you mean there is an audible hum from the unit, or that speaker output(s) hum?

Let's figure out what DOES work...

Do you get the audible relay click a few seconds after power up?

Does it tune FM?

Can you get the On Screen Display? Settings all ok?

What preceded this? RSVP.

The unit wont power up it is stopped at the first power relay. iT SEEMS THE POWER RELAY IS BAD. cAN IT BE FIXED

If the power relay clicks, this means that the coil is good but the relay contacts may be dirty (contacts need to be cleaned or the relay replaced).

If the relay does not click, then it might be a bad fuse, a bad relay coil or a faulty relay drive circuitry, no power to the relay drive circuit, possibly an internal overload or a short somewhere in the unit which causes the unit to stay off to protect itself from further damage that might occur if it had turned on.

I have a pioneer receiver..vs 812....and sound has ceased to come out of it. It comes on....and switches between sources...but there is no signal coming from ANY source

First make sure the speaker A/B switch is on.
If still no sound, dissconect ALL speakers from the rear of amp.
Now turn on amp and listen for the relays to click in.
One relay will click when you press power. A couple of seconds later, the speaker relay will click in.
If it does, you could have blown outputs, bad speaker wiring, faulty speakers.
If it does not, the speaker relay may be faulty.
Hope this helps.
