After connecting with Verizon Fios, my NETGEAR WG511T couldn't work as before. Even I clicked on "Repair", but Windows XP couldn't find my IP. Anyway, my problem was solved after re-installing NETGEAR. This time I didn't choose NETGEAR Smart Wizard (recommended) but Windows (second option). It works this way. However, when you turn on your laptop, the dialog window will ask you to choose Smart Wizard or not. If I choose Smart Wizard, my mightmare will come back right away. Hope my solution works on yours.

Hi p_nusbutter.

Based on the information you have provided, the issue might be due to the TCP/IP settings in the Computer.

Hence, it would be better to first disable the IPV6 settings and check if the issue is resolved.

I have also mentioned the link which has the information to disable the IPV6 settings.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852

Please follow the steps mentioned on the above link to disable the IPV6 settings.

Disabling the IPV6 settings should resolve the issue.

If the issue still persists, please perform the steps mentioned in the next link which I have provided.(below)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892896

The above link has all the detailed troubleshooting steps.

Hence, please perform all the steps mentioned on the page.

This should resolve the issue.

Please do not mind, as I have provided the links instead of the direct information.

As there are a lot of troubleshooting steps, I have forwarded the links.

However, please perform the steps.

This should resolve the issue.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask further questions.

Have install netgear range booster to wireless router but says limited connectivity

This can occur when the wireless adapter has trouble connecting to the wireless router.
It may not get an IP address from the router or the wireless adapter encryption setting didn't get an the encryption authentication from the router.
In this case right click on the wireless adapter on the Task bar and click Repair. This will make the router re-issue an IP address and authenticate the adapter's encryption setting.

Configuring the usb

First, make sure that the device is working properly on the device manager of your computer. Then, set the wireless settings of the router to the wireless adapter. You can use the wireless utility built in to windows (XP and Vista) or the utility that came with your adapter to fix that.

Normally, the limited or no connectivity may mean that there is a wireless security set on your network and that the network key is set incorrectly. If you are using Vista or XP, try to remove the preferred networks and reconnect once again with the correct key.

Hope this helps

Limited connectivity

If the network you are connecting to has wireless security enabled, try to remove all the preferred networks and reconnect fresh and enter your network key.

One possible cause for limited or no connectivity is the incorrect wireless password set on it.
