It can play 1080p movies but it wont play them at 1080p as it does not have the ability to output at that format. And 1080p movies even tho it may play them they may be choppy or laggy cause its just to high of a resolution for a agp fx5500 to play. 1080p is a resolution not a format and it would have to be outputted to a 1080p compatible screen or tv. I think the highest it can do even hooked up to dvi is 480p. But i cant confirm this with the information on nvidias website as this card was made a little before they started doing hi def resolutions. If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the solution. thanks and have a great day.

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

if this fails to fix the problem

It could be a problem with the lens you could use a liquid type lens cleaner place 2-3 drops on top of a cd/dvd then run it

I want to increase the storage capacity my Hard disk.

hi,

You can use SATA hard disk.

you said you already have 40gb. so, your pentium 4 mother board can work with full performance with upto 80 gb.

My suggestion for you is to get another 40 gb and install it ,so it makes 80 gb as total.

Other option is , There are external hard disks available for reasonable cost. you can go for it.

Your RAM is ok too.

Hope my info helps you.
Bye.
