Good morning everyone! My marine AC unit is making noise- I'm not sure if is the compressor - suggestion anyone pls? Thanks!

You will have to open it up to see if it is the compressor or the fan motor. You will see the fan wobble when running. Replace the motor Could be the fan also.. If it runs true. replace the compressor. May be cheaper to replace the whole unit.

We bought an LG portable AC unit over the weekend, it's Wednesday and while the AC unit is blowing cold air there is a horrible squealing noise, but when it's just the fan there is no noise. Please...

You are saying the squealing noise is when the compressor is on, if so and the compressor is doing this you need to exchange for another unit because those compressors are not serviceable

If your fan does not run in any speed F1, F2 F3. and a funny smell sounds like the motor is bad
Mine works in F2, F3 but not in F1

Noise when I start car, then it quits. Noise comes on if I turn the fan or AC on. I inspected the fan and didnt see anything that it was rubing against. What is causing the noise?

this is possibly a belt slipping possible from a tight compressor unit which is belt driven.Remove belt and feel the load on the compressor by should turn with some drag but quite freely.

My ac unit goes very quiet and then gets very noisy. When the fan is on alone it is very quiet - only gets noisy when I turn on the a. The unit is mounted in a window.

Your compressor is making noise when it starts and runs. Please check your voltage and ensure that there is no fluctuation in voltage.

In case the unit is very old then do please think about replacing the same with a new one.

In case the compressor is the culprit there is no point in changing the compressor instead you could replace it with a new AC unit.

Funny Noise

if the noise goes away fairly quickly, it's perfectly normal. what you are hearing is the compressor beginning to work. compressors require extra power to start because pressures have to be de-equalized in the system, and that is why it makes that noise. now, if the noise continues as long as the compressor runs it may be getting old and worn, but could still last a long time. check freon pressures if possible to verify that the system has the proper charge, sometimes that can affect how it sounds, too.

Samsung 1.5 ton slpit AC.the out door unit is very noisy

Check to see if the noise is coming from the fan, could be bad bearings. Replace the fan motor if that is the case. If the noise is coming from the compressor, the only other place besides the fan, then your compressor has some issues and will probably stop working soon, maybe line up for a replacement before you are left with a hot house.

Squeeling noise coming from AC, compressor is on, fan not turning

The squealing noise is coming from the compressor. This noise is common when the unit reaches extreamly high pressures. The pressure is most likely high because the fan is not running. Since you can spin the motor it could be that the motor has damaged windings. Leave the unit off until the repairs are made to ensure no further damage to the compressor. You will need a multi meter and some experience reading wiring diagrams to properly diagnose the system. You can perform an amp draw on the motor to see if it is in spec. You can measure the volts to the motor and see if they are in spec. Finally the contactor can be measured with the proper meter to see if it is working properly.

My suggestion is to have the Motor and capacitor both replaced. Also inspect the wiring in the condenser electrical compartment for any signs of damage or burning.
