Question about EliteGroup NFORCE 570 SLIT-A Motherboard
NFORCE 570 ****-A V5.1 MB
Intel Pentium D 830 3.0gGHz DT 800FSB Socket 775
MemoryPRO 2GB Dual Channel Kit (1GBx2) DDR2 PC2-5300 DDR2-667 CL5 240-Pin DIMM Memory
Hitachi 320GB 0A33435 - SATA2 U300 7200rpm 16MB
BFG NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 512MB PCIe
The problem: When i built this pc, i originally installed Win XP HE on this sytem. I eventually set it up to dual-boot with Vista Ultimate. It worked great until the system was just shut off one day, when i started it back up, it would no longer recognize a SATA drive.
i thought maybe the drive was bad, then i bought a Maxtor 320GB SATA and i was going to install Vista on this machine, however the set up nor my BIOs detected this drive either.
So, i contacted ECS and there support is reeally slow, so i decided to check thier site for a BIOs update which did exsist, i did the update so now i am running v5.2e , however the BIOS sees the drive only every other boot up, and if it does see it, it will not boot to it. i can boot to the IDE drives all day without a glitch. The SATA drives are enabled in BIOS, BIOS functions properly, everything else with the pc works fine. I just can not get this SATA thing figured out. HELP!
Hi fadetoal, it's not you or you're drives. It's the onboard SATA controller. When a board is SATA compatible & the bios does not see the SATA drive (List the SATA drive), the fault is the board. You're board goes one farther than normal. Bios see's the drive but can't run. All you're going to do is pull you're hair out trying to get the board stable. Hope its still in warranty.
