My Flipshare video camera will not turn on. When I try to power it up on my computer or with the power cord, nothing happens. No light goes on, no nothing. Pleas help!

Hi d_cockerham,

You should try resetting your Ultra HD Flip Camcorder. Unfortunaately the support knowledgebase does not list the proceedure but I managed to get an email from them on how to proceed.

The steps to reset/resolve an issue where your UltraHD will NOT turn "On" is as follows:
  1. Remove the battery pack from the camcorder.
  2. Connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer.
  3. When the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder.
  4. Safe eject your camcorder from your computer.
  5. Reconnect your camcorder to your computer.
  6. The battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder
Hope this helps anyone else who encountered similar problems.

Screen goes black shortly after turning on

I'm sorry that the screen goes black shortly after turning on the camcorder. I suggest that you perform a manual power reset and check the operation. Follow the steps to perform a manual power reset:
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Disconnect AC power adapter.
  3. Remove the battery pack.
  4. Remove the lithium button-cell battery.
  5. Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds.
  6. Move the POWER switch to the OFF position.
  7. Reinsert the lithium button-cell battery.
  8. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack.
  9. Turn on the camcorder.

What does code C:32:20 mean

5-digit display Cause and/or Corrective Action C:04:xx You are using a battery pack that is not an "InfoLITHIUM" battery pack. Use an "InfoLITHIUM" battery pack. C:21:xx Moisture condensation has occurred. Eject the cassette and leave your camcorder for at least one hour to acclimatize. C:22:xx The video heads are dirty. I went to charge my canon FS100 camcorder than went to turn it on and it not working now what can be the problem?

have the same prob this morning, check the charging unit for the serial no. (will begin with CA) mine is CA590E, the 590 is a known problem to cannon, it will either discharge the battery pack (pray this is the fault) or it will internally damage the camcorder. mine is only 18 months old used a max of maybe 10 times. I will reply again this afternoon when i've tried a new battery charger, just waiting for my cannon dealer to open.

Flip ultra hd not charging

I had the same problem, but it seemed to be a bit more sporadic. I'd occasionally get the "Charging Paused - Check Battery Pack" error. The battery pack itself looks a bit strange, since the white plastic covers the bottom, right side and it seems that there is no possible way for the battery to make contact with the camera. However, I saw the following suggestion on another site (which the poster claimed came from Flip technical support), and this technique worked for me:

1) remove the battery pack from the camcorder
2) connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer
3) when the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder
4) safe eject your camcorder from your computer
5) reconnect your camcorder to your computer
6) the battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder

Battery pack use

Have you charged your battery?

Your battery may need to be replaced. Radio Shack carries them for about $20 - $30 a piece depending on how long the life is in them.

I carry a few for my camcorder just for that reason. Then you will have a backup source.

Canon MV550i Mini DV Digital- red flashing symbol

from canon's support page:

This symbol indicates an empty or missing backup battery. The backup battery allows the camcorder to retain date, time and other settings when the main power source is removed.
The flashing symbol is not recorded by the camcorder so you can continue filming without problems.

To stop the flashing symbol remove the old backup battery and replace it with a new one, or recharge the built-in lithium battery if the camcorder has a built-in rechargeable battery.
Note: when the backup battery runs out during filming please do not remove the power supply (battery pack) before the camcorder is powered from a household power source and power adapter, or the user settings and date/time will be reset.

For more detailed information please consult the instruction manual.

I need to set the camcorder to default settings

For most models, removing the battery pack from the camcorder will restore the default settings; however, some models which contain an EZ Q button, store your settings and removing the battery pack will have no impact on these settings. The Lithium battery maintains the clock function and preset contents of the memory; even if the Battery pack or AC Power adapter is removed. Removing the Lithium Battery along with the Battery pack will restore the default settings.
