Kym,
Yes, if you want to use the humidifier function. No, if you don't. It's just an option.

Below is a link to a full manual for your heater. Check out page 57 for full explaination on this function .

Would like a manual for the rinnai energysaver 403FT we need to set our heater up so it goes on auto and how do we regulate the temperature and set time

The model number (403FT) has either been discontinued, changed or is incorrect. However, Model # RHE309FT closely matches the heater you described and has the timer and temperature features you are wanting to preset.

You may download and print the manual from the link below for future reference.

Rinnai energysaver 556f manual

Here is a link to the 556FTR from Australia.
They are all pretty much the same. The US site has similar info. Just google Rinnai. Open the site, go to resources tab and click downloads. The manuals are easy to locate.

I have a Rinnai Energysaver 1001 without a manual, we have just moved into our new house and manual not left. Where can I get manual from? TA

all energysavers have the same controls so any manual will do. www.rinnai.co.nz navigate to Tradesmart, space heating, energysavers.

Rinnai 551FT (I couldnt see it on list!)

Try vacuum cleaning the filter as the heater shuts down to protect itself from over-temperature. NB-turn off the heater before doing it. And yes, you add water to the tray (...carefully) - this increases the apparent heat. Peter
