...nope, taking out the batteries won't help...here's the simple solution from Omron themselves: turn it on, hold the memory 'down' button until it starts scrolling thru all the past readings, then press n hold the start button until you see three dashes across all displays...this should take 2-5 seconds...enjoy!
...oh, almost forgot...the newer model of the HEM-780 has a master memory button, rather than the up\down buttons of the previous model...if you have the newer one, select your user profile, then press n hold the memory button, and the start button for 5 seconds to delete all saved readings for the user...enjoy!

You may need to remove the batteries for at least a minute then replace. Some models have a small pinhole reset button on bottom that can be depressed with a pen tip. Hope this helps:)
