The wii has built in wifi so you dont actually need to buy anything for the console itself. What you would need to buy is a router that has wifi capability to connect the wii. If you want to do a wired setup youd need the USB-ethernet adapter.
But without a wifi router broadcasting a signal you would not be able to connect to the internet in your own home with the wii.
If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the solution. thanks and have a great day.

Why my Wi says no connection to internet....What do we do?

Check to see if your router has a setup for WiFi and if you don't know contact your internet supplier and ask them for assistance about setting up WiFi. Unfortunately The Wii does not have any wired connection capability or at least there isn't one on mine. Let me know if this does or doesn't work for you.

How do I connect my wii to my wifi internet

To get WiFi working on your Nintendo Wii, first power on your console. Then select "Wii" in the bottom left corner. After doing this, select "Wii Settings". Next click on the right arrow to go to page two and then click on "Internet". Select "Connection 1 None" and click on "Wireless Connection". After this you should choose "Search for an access point" The Wii will then ask you to enter the WiFi password if you have a secured router. Save the changes and you should have internet on your Wii!

How do i hook my wii to the internet

The only way is to use a wifi connection. If you dont have a wireless router at your house you can buy one at staples or best buy. After that go to setting>internet and give the required information to the Wii, such as network passwords.

Nintendo wii

If you havea WiFi router that you use for internet then you can do this very easily by adding your WiFi settings to Wii in settings. This will also allow you to get Wii software updates and use the Store where you can download games etc.

Your friend will also have to have a WiFi router in his home with internet access and he'll also have to add those settings to the Wii.
