Question about Pride Jazzy Select 6 Indoor Power Wheelchair

1 Answer

I have a hand me down Jazzy Pride model 1121, which seems to be in excellent condition, other then the following problem. Brought it home and charged it for 24 hours. Powered up and would only turn to the right. Checked the free wheel levers and locked them. Rode it for about 150 yards and parked it. Next day it would not move, so charged it again for another 24 hours. When it powers up all led lights go on, but then backs off to shows three red and one yellow and remains on the latter setting. Powered on and off several times and situation remains the same. Tried to trouble shoot via the pride site, which stated (Right Motor Open) and make sure right motor is pluged into controller. Short of sounding stupid, I have no clue on how and where to check this connection out, therefore I would like to seek assistance concerning this matter. Thanking you in advance and am respectfully, JRH

JRH, you didn't say if you put new batteries in the chair. If not some of your problem could be the batteries The lights on the joystick will blink a certain number of times to give you a "fault code" Use this code to determine the error. If after you rode the chair out of freewheel then the motor connection is not the problem. I'm guessing the batteries are the problem. Hope this helps

I would like to find out how I can order a replacement arm rest

depending on what chair you have the cheapest option is to try and get a generic replacement, search eBay for "wheelchair arm rest" they start from around 10 UK pounds or you might be able to find one from the same make and model.
if not then you need to search the web for the make and model of chair you have followed by "parts arm rest" so if you have a pride jazzy 1121 you would search google for "pride jazzy 1121 parts arm rest" that should point you to a replacment, if no joy there another option is to contact the makers, again search for maker to find contact info, or look for a dealer that sells the make of chair you have.

if this helps please click "yes" to let others know.

Jazzy 1121 can the joy stick be reset to factory default with out a programmer, and if not what programmer would i need or any idea on a dealer to reset it?

You would need a programmer to set the factory default on this model. The 1121 typically had a Penny and Giles VSI controller. You would need a PP1 programmer to adjust it. Call around to your local dealers and see who has one in their shop. It is a very popular and available programmer. If you bring the chair into them, they will probably program it for no charge while you are in the chair. I know that was my service philosophy for years. The shop will get your business down the road as a loyal customer. It should take less than 15 minutes to dial you in. Hope this helps.

The unit can be programmed to run faster. Stop in to the local powerchair dealer in your area. Very quick and inexpensive fix. I would charge you only for my time. About 10minutes max.

I think my charger isn't charging the batterys

Have someone check if the on board charger light is green after you have charged it all night. Most probably you have a charger problem and this will also create a battery problem since you haven't been charging them with a bad chargger. If medicare purchased your chair then you can find a repair service to repair your chair and Medicare will pay for most of the repair

I'm getting a 2 bar flash code and just replaced

If you can do this or have someone else do it for you. Switch the motor connections on the main computer of the chair. If the it goes to a 4 flash then you know that the left motor is bad. If it stays at two flash then either the controller or the joystick is bad.
