paper does not feed straight and jams

  • Anonymous May 15, 2008

Everything is printing out skewed...then there is a lot of noise inside the printer and I have to press the "enter" or "cancel" button to reset it...

When my 6110xi printer starts to pull a sheet of paper from the paper tray, it starts slow then quickly accelerates into a jam condition. The paper is always crushed on its upper right corner, and never makes it more than 1/3 way through when I have to unjam it.

I understand the you are experiencing hardware issue. In this case try to connect the all-in-one directly to walloutlet without any surge protecter and then try to scan from the top feeder. If the issue persists power cycle the all-in-one and then reset.

Ricoh copier i make some copies but when i turn the papers to print the other side of the sheets the paper gets folded as it enters leaves the tray and creates paper jam

Make sure the ink is dry and the paper is cold before replacing as this can weaken the paper strength and cause it to fold. Also a lot of printers are very picky about paper alignment and don't like you just putting in single sheets. Try having at least 6 sheets in the slot and 'tapping' them on a flat surface to align the bottom surface before feeding them in.

The printer keeps telling me it's out of paper, which it isn't

1> Open the sheet feeder cover and pull out the paper support.

Set paper, aligning the right edge of the paper to the cover guide with the paper's print side facing up.

Pinch and slide the paper guide to the paper's left side.

Note: Make sure to set paper lengthwise. Setting Credit Card sized paper long-side down by mistake may cause a paper jam.

Pull down the paper output tray supporting with both hands.

Pull out the extension completely.

Ensure that the Power lamp and the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp light.

Note: If the Cassette lamp lights, press the Paper Feed switch to light the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp.
If the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp does not light even after pressing the Paper Feed switch, Paper Source in the printer driver may be set to the setting other than Paper Feed Switch.

Misfeed in copy

This seems to be fault in the transport of the paper in the rollers. So if you have used any adhesive sticker printing, it is possible that some glue has got clogged into the rollers. If not there can be some jammed paper in the rollers or the mechanism.
So start this work only if you are mechanically able with the right tools.
Remove the covers to get access to the mechanism . Remove the motor drive assembly , the fitting of the motor to the mechanism. Once this is removed the rollers can be turned manually so that you will be able to feed a paper to see the progress of the movement while studying if there is any obstruction or damage to the paper.
There is a in-detect sensor, usually an opto-coupler , make sure this is not clogged or dirty as this IR detection feeds the signal to the processor for starting the motor drive feed.
Reassemble but make sure the rollers are aligned to be in equal gap to feed the paper without a side pull. Now you must print and see if the fault has changed. If not repeat the above work to confirm the area of obstruction

I am printing postcards which get stuck in the printer during the last 2 inches of printing. What can I do to fix this? The printer is HP officejet 6110 all-in-one.

How stiff is the card stock? Some cards cannot feed if the printer rolls the card to print on it. (This one does)
I have taped cards to a full size sheet of paper and run that through.
Usually this means the paper is too stiff.
You can try cleaning the paper feedroller with a rag with a bit of windex on it. (This roller is above the paper tray where the paper loads in.)

Open the printer cover and look closely for tiny paper shreds that might got stuck between the rollers. If you have a canned air, try blowing out the paper path as those tiny piece of paper might be blocking the paper sensor.

Problem Printing Sheet Paper with the Epson 9800

On the machines control panel set to sheet fed (pressing the left button will change from Sheet, roll and roll with cut). In the print settings select your paper profile. On the page setup choose sheet. In the pull down menu you should only have basic paper sizes, no custom size. choose 20x30 and try again.

let me know if this helps
