The price will vary in different localities.

you should call a plumbing wholsaler in your area. Home depot and Lowes will not carry these, neither will you local hardware store.

the replacement is faily simple. Eemax is a nice heater, although faily expensive to opperate.

I apparently need to buy or repair my water heating element, where and the cost???? everything else is ok, just cold water..

hot water elements for water systems cost around $50.00AUD and probably 1 hour labour fee by an accredited plumber with a limited electrical licence
There will be a mess as the removal of the element will allow the full tank of water to drain out

How do i fix my stiebel eltron tankless electric water heater? It stop working..

Th easy fix would be installing a new heating element that has burned out. You don't say what size this tankless heater but if it stopped working entirely you might have just one heating element inside. You can test it by (1) turning off the circuit serving the heater, disconnecting one of the wires to the heating element, then taking an ohmmeter to see what the resistance of the element is. If it is "infinity" then it is open and burned out. Replace element. If it is around 6 ohms (for a 10kW heater running at 240V) then the heating element is OK. Unfortunately those heating elements don't last forever. Check the repair manual on how to replace the heating element.

That is propane water heater.
There is no element because a burner heats water.

Replaced bottom element and both thermosats. the reset button tripped what would cause this to happen

Reset trips when upper thermostat senses high heat event over 150 degrees F.

High heat can be caused by:

1) Element shorted to ground through center of element. Thermostats turn off one leg of 240V circuit. Elements always have 120V available. If element is shorted to ground, it might not trip breaker, and continues to heat using one leg of 240 with circuit completed to ground wire.
Test elements:

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-EH40-hot-water-heater-timer.html#120-240

2) Insulation and cover not put back over thermostat. Thermostat exposed to cool air, misreads temperature causing element to continue heating.

3) Thermostat sticking in ON position. I usually replace both thermostats at same time to save another trip.

4) Shorted wire or loose wire at or near upper thermostat. Check that screws are very tight against copper wire.

5) One suspect can be eliminated is 240Volt power to heater.
Your heater circuit is good.

I have a Reliance 501 electric water heater. There are two panels. In the top panel is a red "reset" button. On two occasions this button has popped and turned off the unit. I have pushed the...

ECO reset button trips when thermostat senses high heat event over 150 degrees F, or when upper or lower thermostat is defective. There are other causes: if tank access covers and insulation are missing, and when element is shorted to ground in center of element so that element continues heating through one leg of 240V circuit after thermostat turns off.

Ordinary tank-type electric water heater is fully repairable by homeowner using generic parts from hardware store or home center.

1) Replace upper and lower thermostat for about $28, and if problem persists, then do troubleshoot shown in step 2 below.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-thermostat-on-electric-water-heater.html

2) Take 30 minutes and troubleshoot before replacing any parts.
Troubleshoot requires cheap multimeter from home center.
Install battery in multimeter.
When testing voltage, rotate multimeter dial to 240 or 250 or 277 VAC.
When testing continuity or elements, rotate multimeter dial to ohms (upside down horseshoe symbol is ohms)

I have a Rheem Model # 62SV-520 and I loose hot water after about 10 minutes in the shower. I think one of the heating elements is bad, but if so, which one.

There performance depends on your demand. If you are using an energy saving shower head I would expect you to have enough hot water for easily a couple of showers. But, if your using the "power flush" type shower heads that use 3.5 gpm or more, the 40 gallon heater is not enough. Also, consider type of water your heating. Is it well water or municipal. Unsoftened well (this includes some municipal well supplies too) water causes hardness ions to cake the heater element making them less efficient. If you have the low flow shower, it is likely you have an element burt out. They can simply be replaced and picked up at any big box store for less than $20 dollars. Each element can be tested in place with a continuity tester. If your not sure how to test, but would be willing to replace the elements - replace both of them. You will have to shut off power to heater and drain tank completely before removing elements. Replace elements with same wattage or higher. Most have two 2250 watt elements for a total of 4500 watts. you can easily install two 3000 watt elements and have a quicker recovery rate and more hot water than ever.

Red reset button keeps kicking out, i reset button and works fine for a day or two then kicks out again

The reset button kicks out because the thermostat detects overheating.
Anything over 150 degrees, the reset kicks out.

This is caused by 4 things.
1) Bad upper or lower thermostat. Thermostat sticking in 'on' position and elements overheating water.
2) Factory-installed insulation and cover are removed
3) Bad element shorted to ground at center of element, and element continues heating with 120V through the ground wire.
4) Loose wire near upper thermostat, that is shorting and causing heat.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-problems-with-water-heater.html

Solution:
Check for missing insulation.
Check for loose and burned wires.
Replace both upper and lower thermostat.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-thermostat-on-electric-water-heater.html

If problems continue, test water heater elements and replace bad element.

The electric element doesn't work.It has power to the plug in but does not heat. The gas works fine. Where is the heating element on the tank?

It will be on back side of water heater, follow hydro wires into metal or plastic cover. (shut breaker off before proceeding) remove that cover and you will find element. Double check thermostat and ECO for tripped reset switch (little button in center of it) while cover is off as well, before going through trouble of changing element.
