    Hey,

    My problem begins with your step one. The login URL http://192.168.0.1/login.html gives me the IE error message, IE cannot display the webpage. Is the issue a configuation problem with my router?

Refer to p.14 of the manual.
ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/di_broadband_gateways/di-634m/di-634m_manual_100.pdf
There it has the illustration. You will want to choose to enable the WEP encryption. Then you make a key in the key section. use numbers and letter to make your own key. Then when you try and connect to the wireless network that is the key you will need to put in to gain access to the network and your network will be secure. If you have any questions or need further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

Hi there,

When you log in to the router, in the first tab (You should already be here by default after login), click on "Wireless" and use the following settings for greatest security:
1) SSID - Set an SSID, this can be any phrase that you like.
2) SSID Broadcast - Here you can use either of the settings. If you enable, any device will be able to detect the unit and then they just need to type your WEP key to gain access. If you disable, nobody, including yourself will be able to find the network as the SSID is hidden, instead your network will come up as "Other Network", you will then need to enter the SSID and WEP key to gain access.
3) Security mode - WEP
4) Authentication - Shared Key
5) WEP Encryption - Choose 64 bit
6) WEP Key 1 - Set a phrase that you will easily remember as you will need to use this on all the devices that connect to your network.
7) WPA Mode - WPA2
8) Cipher Type - TKIP
9) Passphrase - Type a passphrase and then confirm it

That's it!

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a great day and please remember to rate this solution.

Best regards,

My DI-634m Is not giving me an IP address

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network ?
If you are not getting the IP address then you might not be connected to the wireless network.
Make sure that you know all the correct wireless settings of the router.
If your network is secured then you have the correct network key.
If you are not sure about the wireless settings of the router then you will need to access the router set up.

Can I use a D-Link DI 634M as an access point?

Sure you can! As you can with any wireless router pretty much.

1. Assign the new router (AP) to an IP on your subnet that's not your existing router's IP... i.e. 192.168.0.2
2. Disable the DHCP server on the "AP"
3. Create a new wireless network on the "AP"
4. Plug your existing network/router into a LAN port

DO NOT USE THE WAN PORT

Voila! You have an access point!

Wireless internet

Hi 4ladyj,

plug your laptop into the router with an ethernet cord, and see if you can connect that way. If you can, go into modem settings via IP (or through the software) and change your wireless settings to default..

If that doesn't work, there is a reset button on the back of the unit, press it in with a paper clip and hold it in for 10 seconds, this will reset the router to the factory default settings.

You will have to change all your settings for your connection again.

Wireless network has disappeared !

Hi,

If I understand your post/description:
1. You have both wired and wireless clients tied to the DLink DI-634M router;
2. The 1st PC is a desktop that uses Ethernet connections to the DLink and is currently working;
3. You have another (2nd) PC (a laptop?) that is connect by WiFi to the router. This is not working now;

I think that your issue may have to do with the Wireless networking of your 2nd PC, i.e. if you can access 192.168.0.1 (DLink DI-634M) from the 1st PC that is wired.

Should this be the case or the scenario is different, pls post back.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested or should you be in need of additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
