Is the compressor and fan running outside ? Is the large copper line going to the outside unit a little cool or noe at all ? Sounding like low on refrigerant.

Changing the air filter on a goodman model # gpg13300701bb outdoor gas AC unit

There should be a panel to remove without needing to remove any screws. Or a panel that states AIR FILTERS. If not, you'll need to remove panel by panel, near the part of the unit where the ductwork connects. If no ductwork connects to the side discharge panels, start farthest away from the o.d. fan motor section. Turn off line voltage power first! Electricity and moving parts are inside and may cause bodily harm or injury. I normally install "Gas Packs" with a filter grille or filter base in duct for easy filter maintenance.

How can I make the ac quieter inside the house?

If you have hard ducts, you can use some flex duct between the supply plenum and the hard ducts as a way to quiet the noise down.

I have a Goodman system and I have water leaking from the the small box next to my furnace. I have what looks like 3 lines running from unit to this box. One is a small copper one, another is a line...

the clear plastic hose is the condensate drain .. indeed they clog frequently .. lthat will allow water to overflow the pan that is desined to capture condensed water from the evaporator.. the plastic hose and the pipe it is attached to need to be cleaned out periodically ... allowing water to overflow can damage other things so its important to get the drain cleared .. however that drain has little to do with cooling efficiency .. your lack of cooling performance could be another problem ... sometimes the evaporator coil gets clogged (large finned unit behind where the overflow hose is attached inside furnace) .. that has to be cleaned once in a while but is tricky to do ... how often depends on how good the furnace air filter is and how often its changed ... as the evaporator becomes clogged with dust the cooling efficiency goes down .. same with the outdoor unit ... you have to wash out leaves and such periodically from the condenser coils .... if every thing is clean but the cooling efficiency is still low then have the unit checked for refrigerrant pressure .. it could be low .. of course make sure the furnace filter is not clogged ... also for cooling make sure all of the registers are open ... closing some can reduce overall efficiency ... make sure the outdoor unit fan is working properly ..

I had my a/c charged today because it has not been cooling the house down. It took less than a pound, but it still blows worm air. Fan and compressor all running. I cleaned outside unit, filters, replaced...

It could be that it is not charged correctly. Check the insulated copper
line outside if it is sweating and the condensor is discharging hot air, then the ac is doing all that it can. Check the evaporator inside to see
if the drain has condensate coming out of it.

Getting the heat out of the attic is a good idea, but you must have enough make-up air in the attic for the fan. If you do not have enough
make up air, it will start to draw air from inside the house. One way to check this is if you have a gas water heater and or furnace. If you put
a flame by the exhaust pipe in the basement and it blows it out, then you now have a backdraft problem.

Run the AC withoutthe fan, my real guess is the unit is not properly
charged or you do not have a big enough AC unit.

Its gets up to100 during the day here right now. my ac is set on 78 and comes on at noon and does not turn off till at least midnite. the temp on the thermostat stays at 80 untill after midnite. ...

Check the outdoor unit you should have hot air discharging out the top of the condensor. The insulated suction line should be sweating. The inside
coile should be condensating and water should be flowing to a drain from the indoor unit.

If all of that is happening, then I would say you now
have a ubdersized unit. If none of that is happening
then I would say you are low on refrigerant.

Four things cause icing up:
( 1 ) Is your filter clean? dirty filter blocks air flow causing iceing up. replace filter
( 2 ) Do you hear the Indoor fan running? If the fans not running the unit ices up. Check Capacitor to fan if good.
Bad fan motor... replace fan motor and cap. If both good
( 3 ) Check Air Handler evap coil if dirty and or clogged, restricts air flow causing unit to ice up. Use toilet brush to clean.
This is always a big possibility if you have pets.
( 4 ) If the above are not present then you are low on refrigerant.
Low refrigerant will cause icing up because the gas does not flash properly. This will require a service tech.
refrigerant leaks can be as simple as a loose cap on the king valve, leaking schrader core, to coil leak.
Have the service tech show you the leak. If it is in a copper line it can be fixed. If the system is over 10 years old limit the amount you want to spend. 10 years is the standard life expectantcy anymore. Good luck

AIR CONDITIONER

Do you have any frost on the lines going to the outside unit. If the large line is frosted your evaporator (Cooling coil in the furnace) could be frozen up. Operating it with the fan in automatic with the cooling on will sometimes be the cause of this condition.

If there is not frost on the large line going to the outside unit and you are getting air circulation inside the house the problem could be a loss of refrigerant charge. Look at the joints where the pipes were soldered to the inside and outside units for signs of oil. If you find oil at any point it is the indication of a refrigerant leak.
