I would unplug it... let it sit for a few minutes... plug it back in and see if it comes on... if not.. feel if its hot or even smell it for an electric burn odor.

If it never comes back on its possible a fuse inside the unit was blown.

If you open the case be very gentle... If you still have warranty just return it.. if not.. open it.. look for some small regular oldschool looking fuses.. some are attached so you might need to pry at them a bit... usually near the power supply.

Please leave it unplugged when working on it. Also look for a burned transistor like this

If you have a burned transistor somebody with a little electronics knowledge could replace or a repair shop would fix that for like 25$-50$

Can't record on dvd+rw disc what kind of disc do I need Thank You

There might be a firmware upgrade to allow this I would use DVD-R for full compatibility however DVD+R media from Philips is increasing in compatibility with most NON Philips and Sony players.

Won't work with the same kind of discs i've used before

I not sure as to which type of Discs that you are refering to (ie DVD+R or DVD+RW). This player will only recognize 4x (max) DVD+RW and 8x (max) DVR+R discs. If the DVD+R Disc is 16x, the DVD recorder will not recognize it once you start to record. The player will read the blank Disc and give the impression that it will record on it. I have noticed that when a 16x speed Disc is in the Drive, The recordable hours for the disc seems to double. The normal 6 Hour recording length comes up as 12 Hours when you hit the info button. Since the 8x Speed (max) discs are not available any longer, I found it best to use the DVD+RW 4x Discs and make it compatible. I then copy the compatible DVD+RW disc to a 16X DVD+R disc using my computer DVD burner. The DVD+RW disc can then be erased so that it can be reused.

My recorder has stopped accepting NEW DVD-RW discs and ejects them. There is no problem loading DVD-R (new or recorded)or loading previous recorded DVD-RW, initializing and re-recording I have tried...

I had the same problem. After trying several brands, the only one which is working perfectly is Maxell (yellow discs). I found them is the US (Seattle), have not seen them in France where I am leaving. Hope it can help !
